Kaleidoscope 2014: Important Events in Entertainment (Part 3/4)
Celebrity

From hot couples' weddings to some shocking deaths, these stories made the third part of the annual kaleidoscope.

AceShowbiz - Happy news and sad news equally shared parts in the third trimester of 2014. After Kim Kardashian & Kanye West's wedding in May, more A-list stars got married last summer. These newlyweds include Jessica Simpson & Eric Johnson (II), Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie, and George Clooney & Amal Alamuddin, just to name a few. On the other hand, fans were brought to tears with the sudden passing of Robin Williams and Joan Rivers.

A privacy breach suddenly also became a hot topic when nude pictures of Jennifer Lawrence, Kate Upton and Mary Elizabeth Winstead among other celebrities were leaked online starting in late July. Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon also made headlines with their marriage split, while U2 upset some iTunes users with the unexpected release of their free album on their devices.

JULY

Goodbyes and hellos were part of "The View" this year. After the show co-creator Barbara Walters, Sherri Shepherd and Jenny McCarthy left the daytime talk show, Whoopi Goldberg was practically the only one remaining on the panel. Thus, before entering its 18th season, the show began recruiting new co-hosts. Following swirling rumors that former co-host Rosie O'Donnell was courted by producers, she was officially announced to return to the long-running show in July. Reactions to the news were varied, with Donald Trump among those showing skepticism to the choice. "It'll have a short term positive impact, but then you have the long term. Rosie always self-destructs," he said. Rosie Perez and Nicolle Wallace were later added to round out the panel.

SEPTEMBER

U2 is undeniably one of the great living music legends, but no one can force another's liking. iTunes apparently didn't anticipate it when they released the band's 13th studio album "Songs of Innocence" to all their customers at no cost. While it was a gift for fans, some others were annoyed that the album was automatically added to their accounts without their consent. Tyler, the Creator even likened getting the free album to waking up with herpes. Denying that they supported free music with the album giveaway, the Irish group eventually apologized for it with frontman Bono taking it lightly in his response to an iTunes user's complaint. "Oops. I'm sorry about that. I had this beautiful idea and we got carried away with ourselves. Artists are prone to that kind of thing," he said.
