Jessica Ann Simpson was born on July 10, 1980 in Abilene, Texas and was later on raised in Richardson, a suburb of Dallas. Her father, named Joe, is a psychologist and minister at a Baptist church in Texas while also manages Jessica's musical career and official Website whereas her mother, Tina, is a housewife. After graduated from Richardson North Junior High in 1995, Jessica attended J.J. Pearce High School in Richardson, Texas until the year 1998. During her school life, she was known as a smart student whose IQ was in the 160s that obviously placed her in the "genius" area, an achievement that enabled her to apply for a membership to the brainiac club Mensa.

Before becoming a famous pop singer, Jessica began to sing as part of the Baptist church choir. At around the same time she tried the audition for "MMC" (1989) as a child, but lost the part to future stars like Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera who years later became her heavy competitors in the music industry. Despite such fact, she was able to release her first album when she was merely 14-years-old, a Christian album that offered her performance in the Christian Youth Conference tour with Kirk Franklin, Cece Winans and God's Property. In hearing the record, Tommy Mottola of Columbia Records who "caught" Jessica's potential talent as a pop singer soon signed her on.

The record deal earned Jessica her debut pop album, "Sweet Kisses," which was released in 1999 and spawned two hit singles "I Wanna Love You Forever" and "I Think I'm In Love With You". Also covered a duet with future husband Nick Lachey, a former member of the 1990s boyband 98 Degrees, on "Where You Are," the set sold an estimated 4 million copies worldwide and reached its peak on the Billboard 200 at No. 25. Followed it up with a second LP, Irresistible", the set was a success as well, thanks to its hit single of the same title which was at No. 3 on Top 40 Mainstream and No. 5 on Top 40 Tracks. In between times working on her next album, Jessica married her then husband Nick on October 26, 2002. Soon after that the couple starred in MTV's reality show "Newlyweds" that followed their lives as a marriage couple, aired on the network in August 2003 with the last episode aired on March 30, 2005.

It was the success of the TV show that helped rocketing Jessica's third album, "In This Skin" (2003), to No. 2 on the Billboard 200 before was eventually certified quadruple platinum. Included in this set was Diane Warren's song "The Sweetest Sin" that reached the US Top 40 as its second single "With You" gained more success, went Top 20 in the US and Australian singles charts while at the same time went Top 20 in the world adult charts. Greater than all, this album's third single, a cover of "Take My Breath Away" by the band Berlin, had smoothly gone top 40 on the US Top 40 Mainstream Charts. "I never knew that just doing the show would give me that pedestal to step on," Jessica told Blender Magazine in a March 2004 feature. Later that year, the show won her three Teen Choice Awards; Female Fashion Icon, Choice Hottie Female, and Female Reality/Variety TV Star.

In addition to "Newlyweds", Jessica and Nick also appeared on ABC network's TV special "The Nick and Jessica Variety Hour". Jessica's next album, "Rejoyce: The Christmas Album," covered her duet with sister Ashlee Simpson on the song "Little Drummer Boy." It peaked at #14 on the album chart and was later certified gold. By this time, she already crossed into acting, appeared in TV series of "That '70s Show" and "The Twilight Zone" as well as a TV-movie feature simply titled "Jessica." Invaded the big screen, Jessica made her first appearance in a motion picture, starred as Daisy Duke in the movie remake of "The Dukes of Hazzard" (2005) which made its way to No. 1 at the box office in its opening weekend, grossed $30.7 million on 3,785 screens. Sang the film's soundtrack, "These Boots Are Made for Walkin'", a cover of the 1966 Nancy Sinatra's hit, the song peaked at No. 14 on the Billboard Hot 100 and won a People's Choice Award for Favorite Song from a Movie in 2006.

By early October 2005, Jessica and Nick were hit with rumors centered on their divorce, which they soon denied. Despite the divorce incessant report, a representative for her insisted "They have not separated." The couple themselves even issued a statement, saying "Nick and Jessica have not separated. Rumors to the contrary are simply not true." As people were questioning and busy guessing on the truth, the media kept focusing on their marriage and made it as one of many other Hollywood top stories. After months of rumors, denials and salacious magazine covers, the couple finally came clean and announced that they're breaking up. "After three years of marriage, and careful thought and consideration, we have decided to part ways," the couple said in a joint statement issued by their publicists. "This is the mutual decision of two people with an enormous amount of respect and admiration for each other. We hope that you respect our privacy during this difficult time."

Put an end to the long circulated rumors on their personal marriage issues, Jess finally had her divorce to Nick officially finalized on June 30, 2006. Was single again, she had her name restored from Jessica Simpson Lachey to Jessica Simpson. The fact that she's a single woman, sadly, never came easy for the actress-singer since she had to unfortunately face even more publication centered on her vocal chord injury, being romantically linked to many men, not to mention that of her being reported dating singer John Mayer which made the gossip pages everyday. All of these, however, helped boosted the sales of her new album, "A Public Affair," which was released on August 29 the same year. Sad to say Jess and John's romance didn't last long. They split in early June 2007, with source close to him claimed the differences between the pair started to become more and more apparent.

On the heels of the launch of the LP, Jessica's second film feature "Employee of the Month" smoothly made its way to the theaters in October yet sadly got bombarded with negative reviews though it managed to collect a decent income of a little over $28 million domestically. It, however, did not prevent her to keep working on her path in entertainment industry, especially acting, as she was able to secure roles in "Blonde Ambition" (2007), "Major Movie Star", and "The Witness", all being comedic features.
