Names and titles which enter the competition at 2011 People's Choice Awards were read out in a press conference held on Tuesday, November 9 at The London West Hollywood Hotel in California. Audrina Patridge, Zachary Levi, Jeff Probst and a number of other celebrities including the awards' host Queen Latifah were on hand to reveal the contenders in such fields as movie, music, television and web.
In television, the list is populated by such primetime shows as "Grey's Anatomy", "Glee", "True Blood", "American Idol" and "How I Met Your Mother". "Grey's" in particular nabs 7 nominations although 3 of them fall under the same category, which is Favorite TV Doctor. Sandra Oh's Cristina Yang is nominated along with Ellen Pompeo's Meredith Grey and Patrick Dempsey's Derek Shepherd.
"Grey's" is also vying for Favorite TV Drama along with "Gossip Girl", "House M.D.", "The Good Wife" and "The Vampire Diaries". Meanwhile, Favorite TV Comedy includes none other than recent Emmy-winner "Modern Family" which once again finds "Glee" at the other end. "Two and a Half Men", "How I Met" and "The Big Bang Theory" also eye for the same prize.
Competition is harder in the New TV Show categories for more than 5 are listed. "No Ordinary Family", "$#*! My Dad Says" and the recently panned show "Mike & Molly" are competing for Favorite New TV Comedy while "Nikita", "Law & Order: Los Angeles" and "Blue Bloods" are listed under Favorite New TV Drama.
Fans can vote for the winners online until December 7. The People's Choice Awards itself will be held on January 5, 2011, at the Nokia Theatre and broadcast live by CBS.
