'HIMYM' Boss Explains Decision to Revisit Ted and Robin's Possible Pairing

While it has been widely believed that Robin will not be the titular mother, executive producer Craig Thomas has an explanation why they revisit the idea of the pair.
"There's a new purpose for this happening for Ted and for Robin. It will spin off in a direction different from what we've seen before between the two of them," he argued. "We didn't feel like we were retreading ground."

Josh Radnor Will Assume Narrator Duties in 'HIMYM' Series Finale
February 03, 2012 08:02:02"How I Met Your Mother" is yet to meet its end this season, but a scoop from its series finale has been unveiled. Executive producer Craig Thomas recently revealed that Josh Radnor will take over the narrator duties from Bob Saget in the final episode of the show.
Gushing that it would be "the most awkward transition in series television", Thomas added that the Ted Mosby depicter will be seen in some makeup because the baton passing would be set far into the future. Saget, who has been narrating the show since the first season, has never appeared in front of camera.

During an intimate lunch with some news outlets, executive producers Carter Bays and Craig Thomas revealed they have joked about the possibility of making a spin-off based on the comedy series.
"We've had conversations about rewinding back to 2005 and doing a series called 'How I Met Your Father'," Thomas said with a laugh. "From the perspective of what was happening with the Mother all those years. Occasionally, she'll stumble through McLaren's and no one will see her."
