J.J. Abrams Remains Hopeful 'Fringe' Will Get Renewed for Season 5
January 23, 2012 09:01:33"Fringe" has been flagging in the ratings for years, but its co-creator J.J. Abrams is still crossing his fingers for the series to be picked up for another season. Speaking to TVLine on the uncertain future of his show, the 45-year-old TV producer simply said, "We remain hopeful that 'Fringe' will be able to continue."
Just days earlier, Abrams opened up in a video interview, "While I don't know what the schedule is, it has been my desire since the pilot to direct an episode." He added, "I would say without question that if Fringe comes back, I would do anything in my power to direct an episode. I would love it."

New 'Fringe' Promo Takes a Jab at World Series Delay
October 29, 2011 10:10:02"Fringe" fans have to wait another week to watch a new episode of the sci-fi series, and FOX has offered an explanation to that in a newly released promo. The video pokes fun at the unanticapated delay at World Series which forces the network to push back the "Fringe" episode, stating, "Baseball happened."
The World Series delay was caused by unfriendly rain in St. Louis on Wednesday, October 26 which postponed Game 6 to Thursday. While FOX had already had a back-up plan for that, problem arose as this year's World Series needed a Game 7 following St. Louis Cardinals' 11th inning comeback win.

New 'Fringe' Promo Spot Teases Peter's Return
October 05, 2011 10:10:27"Here is Peter Bishop," so a new "Fringe" teaser says. After promoting the fourth season of the sci-fi series with some teasers which raise the question about Peter's existence, FOX finally releases this video which promises the return of Joshua Jackson's character soon.
Peter disappeared in season 3 finale after creating the bridge between universes. Although he has not showed up in person in the first two episodes of season 4, he is not completely gone since his father Walter continues seeing his reflections and hearing his voice.

July 16, 2011 12:07:34The first promo for "Fringe" season 4 has been dropped online, keeping the mystery in the season 3 finale alive. It uses footage from the fourth episode of season 1 which sees Peter telling Olivia, "There are things happening here that I can't even begin to explain. And I am not going anywhere until I can."
The clip then gets blurry and features flashes of other major moments before the screen turns to black. Later, the title card which is written in backwards asks, "Where Is Peter Bishop?" It matches the last season cliffhanger that leaves question about Peter's existence.

'Fringe' Casts Brad Dourif for Key Role in Season Finale
April 06, 2011 02:04:06Brad Dourif has landed a role on "Fringe". The 61-year-old actor has been cast for a key role in season 3 finale which will be aired on May 6. According to TVLine, Dourif will portray Moreau who is simply described as "a mysterious character".
Dourif gained early fame for his portrayal of Billy Bibbit in "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest". He has since appeared in a number of films and TV series including the "Child's Play' franchise in which he voices Chucky, and "Deadwood" in which he portrays Doc Cochran.

March 26, 2011 11:03:47The desperate attempt to save Olivia from the death leads to the decision to enter her mind ala "Inception". In three weeks, "Fringe" will begin the story arc that builds the third season finale with "Lysergic Acid Diethylamide". The new episode airs April 15 on FOX.
Speaking of what will lead up to the finale, showrunner Joel Wyman told THR, "Consistently, we've tried to have a new chapter begin at the end of the seasons. The first season was the Twin Towers and the second season was Olivia over there. This one will have the same effect that, sort of the beginning of a new understanding of the program."

March 25, 2011 09:03:32The bubble has burst, "Fringe" is officially a go for fourth season. The supernatural show is serving FOX well rating-wise although it was moved to the death slot, Friday nights. "Fringe was picked up!!!! Thanks Fringedom!" executive producer Joel Wyman tweeted.
The pickup was a close call because the drama fell to its lowest rating last Friday. It was down by 13% from the previous night with 3.8 million viewers and a 1.3 rating in the adult demo. Nevertheless, the show has averaged 3.3 million viewers in the ad-favored demo and 6.3 million in total viewers.

Christopher Lloyd Is Coming to 'Fringe'
October 21, 2010 01:10:12Christopher Lloyd who is better known as Dr. Emmett L. "Doc" Brown in 1980s classic "Back to the Future" will be guest starring on FOX's "Fringe" early next year. Lloyd is due to film his cameo next week in Vancouver and the episode will be aired as the tenth episode of this season.
The casting news came from TV Guide which also dug information from John Noble about the role. "We all know how much Walter loves music, right? Well this fellow was one of his icons," Noble revealed. "He adored this man. So Walter gets to be a bit of a fanboy."

" 'Our' Olivia just wants to be the best, but [the other] Olivia just wants to win," Anna Torv said about the two different characters at the San Diego Comic Con last month.

'Fringe' Fans, Prepare to Meet Olivia's Mom
July 03, 2010 11:07:11Fans of "Fringe" will finally be introduced to Olivia's family. Emmy nominated actress Amy Madigan who made a recurring appearance on "Grey's Anatomy", has been cast as Olivia's mother, EW confirmed.
Her appearance is set for four episodes so far beginning right away on the season premiere. The third season of "Fringe" is expected to take place largely in the altera-verse, where Olivia is trapped in a world without Peter and where Walter is not a friend. It was previously hinted by TV Guide that viewers will only see her "over there," and that her ties to the Bishop family will be surprising.

New Stills From 'Fringe' Musical Episode

Called "Brown Betty", the April 29 episode will see Walter dealing with some upsetting news, telling Olivia's niece, Ella (guest star Lily Pilblad), a fairy tale that includes musical performances by Olivia and Agent Broyles.
"We didn't set out to do a musical," executive producer Jeff Pinkner explained. "We set out to do an episode that explored Walter's state of mind - he's dealing with some very upsetting news. When we realized that the way Walter would deal with such news would be to try to anesthetize himself with copious amounts of marijuana, well, singing and dancing became a natural outcome."

Confirmed: 'Fringe' Gets Season 3
March 08, 2010 03:03:16"Fringe" will be back for another season despite not being stellar in rating. FOX has ordered a third season of the sci-fi series created by J.J. Abrams and Alex Kurtzman although the number of episodes is not disclosed.
In its second season, "Fringe" is averaging just 7.6 million viewers. Although the number is high for a major network, it is still considerably low compared to other FOX shows such as its Thursday partner "Bones" and "24". However, since it was paired with "Bones", "Fringe" has proven to be a solid Thursday night line-up for the network.
