'True Blood' Casting Bill's First Wife
November 10, 2009 02:11:33A vintage-looking woman is sought to fill in the role of Bill Compton's first wife on "True Blood". The HBO show will bring back the image of Bill's family before he was sent to the Civil War and turned as a vampire on his way back home by a vampire woman he was getting food from.
In the casting news for Caroline Compton, it is specified that the character lives in 1866 as a "lovely, very strong, brave, well-bred and well-spoken Southern woman". Said to be a "great scene", the role involves Caroline pulling a shotgun on the intruder into her house, clearly prepared to use it, till she realizes it's her husband Bill, whom she was sure had died in the War.

Pam of 'True Blood' Says Yes to Lesbian Story
November 03, 2009 04:11:00Queen of Louisiana Sophie-Ann may not be the only lesbian on "True Blood". After creator Alan Ball projected his thought of having other characters to have a same-sex relationship, actress Kristin Bauer has stepped forward to express her willingness to participate in that storyline.
Bauer plays Pam the sidekick of Eric and the screener of Fangtasia. Ball said he thinks Pam has a "lesbian vibe", explaining further, "I don't know that that's all she is, but she certainly does seem to appreciate the women."

'True Blood' Spoilers: June Premiere, Naked Eric and More
October 29, 2009 01:10:52It has just been confirmed at the Paley Center for Media that "True Blood" will be back for the third season in June 2010, the same time frame when season 2 debuted. During the panel held in Los Angeles on Wednesday, October 28, creator Alan Ball and other writers such as Raelle Tucker and Alexander Woo came out with a lot of spoilers for the new season.
First thing first, Ball answered the question about season 2's cliffhanger where Bill was abducted by an unknown person. Ball spilled that fans need not wait long because it will be revealed immediately in the first episode. Another juicy spoiler would be shirtless Eric. "Alexander Skarsgard appears without most of his clothes in the very first episode of season 3," Ball revealed.

'True Blood' Casting New Vampires and Sam's Brother
October 28, 2009 11:10:24The third season of "True Blood" has begun casting new characters who will either be a regular, a recurring or a guest. Calls are made for the actors to fill in the roles as a new vampire, Sam's brother, and a gang crew who will play a part in torturing Bill.
The new vampire would be Franklin Mott who is in Charlaine Harris' third book "Club Dead". Unlike in the book version, the show is looking forward to present Mott as a "sexy" 25 to mid 40s character instead of an early 60s man. Mott has a lot of scenes with Tara because he has "an immediate and torrid connection" to her after meeting at a local bar.

Alan Ball Confirms Death on 'True Blood' Season 3
October 12, 2009 09:10:54Perhaps not too surprising, there will be another death on "True Blood" next season. The creator and executive producer of the vampire series, Alan Ball, spilled to TV Guide that at least one character won't survive in the third season when the show returns in summer 2010.
"Somebody is going to bite the dust and it's going to be really good to see them get what they deserve," Ball said. This can only mean that the lead characters like Sookie, Bill, Jason and Tara are out of the list. Making it clearer, Ball added that it would be "a person we'll be happy to see go."

Alan Ball Teases Who Took Bill on 'True Blood' Finale
September 15, 2009 12:09:13Alan Ball gave away the biggest clue to "True Blood" season 3 by spilling on who took Bill at the end of the second season. In his revealing interview with Michael Ausiello of Entertainment Weekly, the creator of the vampire series even offered the question himself. [Spoiler Alert] He said, the person using silver chain to abduct Bill was Hoyt's mother, Maxine.
Whether he was joking or not, the possibility seemed distant because Maxine hardly has any motive to take Bill as hostage. Also, the mysterious person wore a pair of black gloves while holding the silver chain, which leads to the speculation that it may as well be someone who is susceptible to silver, vampires.

Recap of 'True Blood' Season 2 Finale: Deaths and Proposal
September 14, 2009 02:09:09"True Blood" officially ended its second season run on Sunday, September 13 with two deaths and at least two cliffhangers. The episode titled "Beyond Here Lies Nothin' " picked up right after the last episode left off. Lafayette was under Maryann spell and handed out Sookie a white gown to serve as the maid of honor.
[Spoiler Warning]. Sookie reluctantly put the gown and went to the ceremonial venue. Maryann told Sookie to repeat what she did but she was unable to. This would be the subject of discussion in the third season where Sookie discovered that she is not a mere human. Also, Maryann's vibrating trick seemed to have no effect on Sookie at all. Still, Maryann proceeded with her marriage to the Bull-head god.

Alan Ball Spills 'True Blood' Season 3
September 12, 2009 10:09:48Alan Ball spared sometime talking about his show "True Blood" which will wrap up its second season on Sunday, September 13. Among the things that he discussed in an interview with TV Squad are the facts that a few members will no longer be seen in season three while some are getting more screen time.
Asked whether Eric, who already became a big part of season 2, will finally get together with Sookie, Ball said, "I can't tell you if they're going to get together, because that's going to ruin the anticipation." He added, "But, if you've been following season two, he's definitely been doing things to make her more vulnerable and more susceptible to him. And he does want her, he's just not sure why. I think it's deeper than just, 'I want her because Bill Compton has her'. Although that's part of it, because Eric is a total alpha-dog."

'True Blood' Finale Teaser Featuring Depeche Mode
September 09, 2009 11:09:01With only one more episode left in the second season, "True Blood" is airing a teaser which utilizes Depeche Mode's "Corrupt". The teaser for the season 2 finale was played on Sunday night without the band but HBO has since released a longer version online that includes scenes of the band recording the song.
The "True Blood" scenes are those from the title while the glimpses of the band are cut from the "Studio Sessions" featurette on the "Sounds of the Universe" box set. "Universe" is the twelfth studio album from the rock band which was released back on April 20, and "Corrupt" is the song that never got out as an individual sale.

On his character's development in the second season, Sam said, "Sam's a real magnet for abuse this year in a lot of ways. I'm just trying to survive this year. But Sam's journey in this year, and hopefully years to come, is really sort of sparked by Daphne and what she teaches him, and whether he grows from that or regrets it, we'll have to see."

In reply to the question why Maryann is so focused on Tara and Eggs, Michelle said "Tara is just the one of the moment, the conduit into this town. Before her, it was Eggs. Before Eggs, it was someone else. After Tara, it will be someone else. The goal is much larger. Tara is just the most vulnerable and the most susceptible right now."

When HBO re-ran the episode again later that night at 11/10c, the accumulative number rose up to 5.1 million. The vampire series consequently becomes "the most watched original program" since the series finale of "The Sopranos" in June 2007.
The season 2 premiere rating is a descent escalation compared to the first season debut which only drew about 1.4 million viewers and later was in jeopardy as one of the series to suffer a flop. However as the new series ran through, it gained loyal viewers and more new fans that the finale absorbed 2.4 million viewers.

The actress who earned her first Golden Globe through the role, told E! Online "I get more naked this season than I did last season. We have a really great crew and everyone's really respectful. It's not an issue for me."
As a consequence, Paquin has to work out her exercise regime. "I work my ass off," she confessed. "I'm very careful about what I eat, and I work out a lot. 'True Blood' Season Finale to Feature Author Charlaine Harris

In a press conference held Wednesday, May 3, Ball told reporters that Harris will make a cameo before the second season ends.
"She actually is going to come out and do a cameo probably in the last episode of the season," said Ball. "But I do think it's best to just respect that boundary. Maybe I'm just being chicken because I don't want to hear that she hates this or she hates that."

Alan Ball Confirms Maryann's Bad Nature in 'True Blood'

In an interview with SCI FI Wire, he revealed that back in Bon Temps, Maryann "begins stirring up all kinds of trouble" although she was portrayed in the first season as very saintly to Tara. "She's got an agenda, and it's not a good one," Alan said.
In the first season, Maryann first appeared in the middle of the road with a boar while Tara was driving home drunk. Thinking that she had hit the figure, Tara got out of the car only to find that there was nobody. Few days later, Maryann posing as a wealthy social worker, released Tara from jail and accommodated her. Toward the end, Maryann leaned on her mysterious side when it was known that she has a secret past involving Sam. She knew Sam could shape-shift to dog and they had an encounter when he was only 17.

May 14, 2009 02:05:01Things are shaping up for the second season of "True Blood" that premieres on June 14. A brand new poster, posted via EW's Ausiello Files is unveiled to show Sookie and Bill playing "it hurts so good".
Several new stills are also coming out to show the other characters such as Sookie's brother Jason shirtless while working, Tara and Maryann, Sam in the water as well as the new vampire, Jessica. In addition, two more TV spots have been released on top of the first one. Both of the spots still use Bob Dylan's new song "Beyond Here Lies Nothin'", but the third TV spot also delivers a few lines from the episodes, including when new waitress, played by Ashley Jones, whispers to Sam's ear "I know what you are".

Director Michael Lehmann said that non-human Maryann will be a huge part of the story in the second season. The actress behind the character itself, Michelle Forbes, said that Maryann's agenda will be revealed. A new face is found in Ashley Jones who plays a new waitress at Merlotte's, and two familiar faces back for a larger story are Mariana Klaveno aka Lorena and Michael McMillian aka Rev. Steve Newlin.

Evan Rachel Wood, the Queen Vampire in 'True Blood'
April 23, 2009 10:04:31The second season of "True Blood" is getting interesting. A major actress is added to the cast to play the "charming, wily, ruthless and wise" Sophie-Ann LeClerq, the vampire Queen of Louisiana for two episodes towards the end of the season.
Entertainment Weekly, in its exclusive report said that Evan Rachel Wood ("Once and Again") will be the 500-year-old vampire from France. Her character is an important figure, a diplomat who has connections to famous icons in history. In the book the show is based upon, Sophie-Ann is romantically linked to Sookie's cousin Hadley who was later murdered. There is no clue yet whether Alan Ball will follow the storyline.

In the clip, Sookie travels with Bill and Jessica in a car to return to Bon Temps. But arguments soon starts between Sookie and Bill while Jessica is crying blood about her family. Sookie is putting sympathy for Jessica's longing for her family but Bill insists that vampires do not have families. Sookie then emphasized on the fact that Bill had glamorized her in the first place.

A New Supernatural Creature Involved in 'True Blood'

"There's a new supernatural creature in town, one I've never seen on TV," says a source on the set. "Even vampires are scared of this thing. We'll be seeing a lot more of Eric (Alexander Skarsgard) this year. Romance is in the air for most of our main characters, but as always with our show, nothing is ever what it seems."
According to E! Online, the drama will continue with Anna Paquin's Sookie Stackhouse and Stephen Moyer's Bill Compton going out of town for a business trip. There, they find themselves involved in the middle of difficult vampire 'politics'.

Date Revealed for 'True Blood' Season 2 Premiere

Allegedly, Charlaine Harris, author of the book the series is based upon, has mentioned the date on her website in a post dated March 9. Not as a supernatural phenomenon, but the character which is played by Lois Smith, will appear in a series of flashback scenes in the second season.

'True Blood' Final Episode to Expect a Death
November 22, 2008 10:11:51Somebody may not make it to the midseason of "True Blood". E! Online revealed that one of the characters' skull may be smashed in the final episode of the first season and he or she, is not alone.
At least two people are going to be hurt in the episode called "You'll Be the Death of Me" where the real serial killer will finally be revealed. Sam Trammell who portrays Sam in the series confirms this to Access Hollywood, saying that a death will occur. "A juicy one," he said. Sam also did an interview with Buddy TV, dishing out that the November 23 episode will have some "really exciting cliffhangers."

The special first screening event was held on Wednesday, September 4, three days before the series will be aired for the first time on September 7.
The evening celebration saw mostly the stars of the series that include Anna Paquin, Stephen Moyer, Alexander Skarsgard, Ryan Kwanten, Jim Parrack, Sam Trammell and Rutina Wesley. Aside from the stars, series creator Alan Ball and Southern Vampire Mysteries books author Charlaine Harris were also in attendance.
