'Desperate Housewives' Stars Have Emotional Farewell on Last Day of Filming
April 28, 2012 09:04:33It's a wrap for "Desperate Housewives" shooting on Thursday, April 26. After eight years of working together, the cast and crew of the ABC primetime soap have bid goodbye to one another on the set and taken to Twitter to share the emotional moment.
"Today is the day, the end has finally arrived... I will be crying all day! #LastDayOnSet," Eva Longoria tweeted during the last day of shooting. She additionally posted several pictures from the set, one of which sees her bursting into tears as she hugged co-star Marcia Cross. In a tag of the picture, she wrote, "Me and the beautiful Marcia Cross! Crying our eyes out!"

Dana Delany Will Return to 'Desperate Housewives' for Series Finale
April 10, 2012 03:04:35Dana Delany will pay a final visit to Wisteria Lane just before "Desperate Housewives" pulls its curtain for the last time. It has been confirmed that the Emmy-winning actress will reprise her role as Katherine Mayfair in the series finale, which is scheduled to air Sunday, May 13.
Delany left the long-running drama comedy series at the end of Season 6 to star on another ABC series, "Body of Proof". The last time she was seen on the primetime soap, her character Katherine embarked on a long European vacation with girlfriend Robin (Julie Benz). It is unclear, though, what will bring her back to Wisteria Lane.

'Desperate Housewives' Trial: Judge Drops Battery Charge, Surprise Witness Testifies
March 14, 2012 01:03:16Judge Elizabeth Allen White has delivered a verdict in one point of Nicollette Sheridan's lawsuit against Marc Cherry and ABC. During the "Desperate Housewives" trial on Tuesday, March 13, the judge dismissed the battery charge, which means the show's creator is no longer a defendant in this case.
In delivering the verdict, the judge said that Sheridan's claims did not meet the standards of workman's compensation statutes that apply to these matters. Responding to the ruling, Cherry said to media outside the courtroom, "Obviously I'm thrilled by the judge's decision. But I'm going to withhold further comment until this matter is resolved completely."

March 13, 2012 01:03:50A mystery witness was revealed in "Desperate Housewives" trial on Monday, March 12. Nicollette Sheridan's attorney said that Michael Reinhart, a construction coordinator on the show, told him he received an email which suggests that ABC, Disney and series creator Marc Cherry conspired to cover up the real reason why the actress was fired from the show in 2009.
"I'm an employee of Desperate Housewives," said the self-described real low-level employee, Mike, in a voicemail. "I received an email soon after Nicollette filed suit; I think it was meant for a much narrower distribution, but it regarded having IT come in and wipe clean the hard drives of the producers in response to the correspondence that they've had, email-wise, about firing Nicollette."

According to George Perkins, the show's longtime line producer, Hatcher who is one of the leading ladies was under discussion to be let go due to money issue. James Denton's Mike Delfino was considered to be written out in season 5 as well, but it's Sheridan's Edie Brit who eventually got the axe.

On Wednesday, March 7, former writer Lori Kirkland Baker gave jury a different version of creator/executive producer Marc Cherry's testimony on when a decision to kill off Nicollette Sheridan's character had been made.
Cherry claimed that he made the announcement at a writer retreat in May 2008 that he had received approval to kill Edie Britt from top studio and network executives. However, just hours later, Baker testified that she didn't hear it until December 2008, months after Sheridan claimed Cherry struck her on the set.

"Desperate" creator Marc Cherry recently said he won't make a movie out of the show like "Sex", and with that, he triggered a comment from Michael Patrick King.
Cherry was speaking at the Television Critics Association press tour this week, telling reporters there won't be a big screen version after the eighth and final season. "I'm never sending these gals to Dubai," he said, referring to "Sex and the City 2". "That's all I'm saying. Sex And The City only did, I think, a total of something like 69 episodes. So I always thought the advantage for them was that they hadn't really plumbed the depths of those characters."

At Television Critics Association winter press tour on Tuesday, January 10, executive producer Bob Daily said, "We don't necessarily want to tie up every loose end in the finale," reasoning, "Life goes on on Wisteria Lane."

Miss Piggy Knocks Down Renee in 'Desperate Housewives' 8.09 Promo

However, Renee's attention gets distracted when she sees Kermit the Frog. As the Wisteria Lane resident seems to be attracted to the frog, Miss Piggy gets upset and knocks her down to the ground. Kermit the Frog asks Renee if she is okay, to which she replies, "That's one bad pig."

Cherry's new project is called "Devious Maids" and revolves around four Latina housekeepers who are based in Beverly Hills. The hourlong soap itself is an adaptation of a Mexican telenovela titled "The Disorderly Maids of the Neighborhood".
