'So You Think You Can Dance' Crowns Two Winners in Season 9
September 19, 2012 10:09:22After two months of dancing on "So You Think You Can Dance" stage, two of the contestants came home as champions. They were Eliana Girard and Chehon Wespi-Tschopp who were unveiled as America's favorite female and male dancer respectively in the season 9 finale, marking the first time ever ballet dancer(s) won the show.
Eliana and Chehon, who both landed on the bottom six once but were saved by the judges, edged out Tiffany Maher and Cyrus "Glitch" Spencer who were also in the final four. The jazz dancer and the popping/animating dancer had a clean record as they were never in danger of getting eliminated.

September 06, 2012 11:09:20With just two weeks to go before "So You Think You Can Dance" crowns the winner of season 9, the number of contestants was chopped down to four on Wednesday, September 5. Before that, the remaining six dancers performed three times: one with a "SYTYCD" all-star, one with another finalist, and one solo number.
Christina Applegate, who joined the judges that night, called Tiffany Maher's jive with season two winner Benji Schwimmer infectious in a good way. The judges gave a standing ovation to Chehon Wespi-Tschopp after he and Kathryn McCormick of season 6 performed an emotional contemporary piece. Cyrus Spencer also brought the judges to their feet with a dubstep routine which he danced with Comfort Fedoke of season 4.

'So You Think You Can Dance' Reveals Top 10 of Season 9
August 16, 2012 11:08:01In the latest episode of "So You Think You Can Dance", 14 contestants were competing for a spot in the Top 10. Before viewers' votes were revealed, all remaining dancers had to perform routines choreographed by Mia Michaels which had been performed in previous seasons. The challenge was to set themselves apart from the original performers.
Among those earning rave reviews from the judges were Tiffany Maher and George Lawrence Jr. who performed the Hometown Glory Routine from season 4, Chehon Wespi-Tschopp and Witney Carson who danced the Bench Routine from season 2, as well as Lindsay Arnold and Cole Horibe who teamed up for the Addiction Routine from season 5.

Lindsay and Cole did a hip-hop routine to Lady GaGa's "Teeth". Nigel Lythgoe praised Cole's "good characterization," but Lindsay was deemed "a little immature" in her role. Amelia and Will showed up next to do a contemporary number. Guest judge Adam Shankman gave a standing ovation, while Nigel called them "brilliant dancers."

Some of them who get the highlight in the clip are a full-time mom and an army who all share the same passion in dancing. At one point, judge/creator Nigel Lythgoe looks aghast, probably after watching one dancer's routine. Meanwhile, one contestant is surprised to learn positive review from the judges.

Nigel Lythgoe, the executive producer and judge for the dance competition show, has just revealed that fans will have to wait a week before finding out who's been cut off from the competition in the new season since FOX axed the results show.
"#FOX have cancelled the results show so I will have to change the format of #SYTYCD," the 62-year-old broke the news through his Twitter account on Sunday, January 1. Remaining positive, he noted that the axing doesn't mean the end to the competition show as writing in the same tweet, "At least we have another season at the end of MAY."

November 22, 2011 03:11:12Nigel Lythgoe got a special treat at the 39th annual International Emmy Awards. The creator of "So You Think You Can Dance" was announced as the recipient of Founders Award at the Monday, November 21 ceremony and he was handed out the kudo by surprise presenter Lady GaGa.
Calling Lythgoe her favorite producer, GaGa had nothing but good words for the "American Idol" boss. "He always helped to nurture and foster my crazy ideas, no matter how demographically unfriendly they were," the Mother Monster said before adding, "I am honored to be here tonight, and I have shared many laughs with him on the side of the stage in my crazy outfits."

Audition Dates of 'So You Think You Can Dance' Season 9
November 14, 2011 03:11:55Dancers may want to take note of the messages recently tweeted by Nigel Lythgoe. The "So You Think You Can Dance" judge, who also created the show along with Simon Fuller, has just announced the audition dates and cities for the ninth season of the FOX dancing competition.
The auditions will be kicked off on January 5, 2012 at Fox Theater in Atlanta. The show's crew will later visit several cities including Dallas, New York and Salt Lake City until the auditions end in Los Angeles on March 2.

All four judges gave Marko and Allison a standing ovation. GaGa was the first judge to give a comment. "I'm just so proud of you," she began as tears streamed down her face. May 28, 2011 09:05:14"So You Think You Can Dance" season 8 two-hour premiere opened the broadcast primetime summer with a win for FOX. The first episode aired on Thursday, May 26 was seen by 9.1 million viewers, making it the most-watched premiere in four years.
It was also up 7% compared to last season's debut in the 18-49 demographic for a 3.2 rating. In fact, it was the highest-rated premiere in three years for the dancing competition which has just welcomed Mary Murphy back on the judge chair.
