Taylor Swift and Shawn Mendes Lead Nominees for 2017 MTV EMAs

The likes of Kendrick lamar, Ed Sheeran, Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber and Katy Perry are also among the nominees of this year's Europe Music Awards.

AceShowbiz - MTV announces nominations for the upcoming Europe Music Awards. Taylor Swift dominates the pack and Shawn Mendes trails closely behind her. They are pitted against each other in at least three categories Best Artist, Best Pop and Biggest Fans.

Swift and Mendes are battling it out for Best Artist along with Ariana Grande, Ed Sheeran, Kendrick Lamar and Miley Cyrus. They are nominated for Best Pop alongside Cyrus, Demi Lovato and Camila Cabello. In Biggest Fans, they are joined in the stiff competition by Grande, Justin Bieber and Katy Perry.

The "Look What You Made Me Do" hitmaker is additionally nominated for Best Look. She is facing off Dua Lipa, Harry Styles, Rita Ora and Zayn Malik. She is also up for Best Video, thanks to the clip of her latest single. She faces off Perry ("Bon Apetit"), Lamar ("Humble"), Foo Fighters ("Run") and KYLE ("iSpy").

Meanwhile, Mendes scores another nod for Best Song, thanks to his hit single "There's Nothing Holdin' Me Back". It joins other nominated songs in the category, Clean Bandit's "Rockabye" ft. Sean Paul, DJ Khaled's "Wild Thought" ft. Rihanna, Sheeran's "Shape of You", and Luis Fonsi's "Despacito" ft. Justin Bieber.

Lamar receives his third nod for Best Hip-Hop Artist. He is pitted against Drake, Eminem, Future and Post Malone. Meanwhile, Lorde and Lana Del Rey are among nominees for Best Alternative along with Imagine Dragons, The xx and 30 Seconds to Mars.

Other artists getting multiple nods include The Chainsmokers, U2, Coldplay and Julia Michaels. The "Jealous" hitmaker is nominated for Best New Artist along with Dua Lipa, Khalid, KYLE and Rag'n'Bone Man.

The winners will be feted in a ceremony taking place November 12 at The SSE Arena in Wembley, London. Rita Ora is confirmed as a host. Musical guests are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
