The first wave of nominations for 2012 Teen Choice Awards has been announced, revealing "The Vampire Diaries" domination. The horror series is facing off another vampire-themed show "True Blood" for the coveted Choice TV Show: Fantasy/Sci-Fi title, with "Supernatural", "Once Upon a Time" and "Fringe" as the other contenders.
The CW show also has its leading lady Nina Dobrev up against co-star Katerina Graham in the Choice TV Actress: Fantasy/Sci-Fi category. In the male category, lead actors Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley will be battling it out for the title.
Another show leading the nomination list with five is "American Idol", which is up for Choice TV: Reality Competition Show. It is pitted against two other singing competitions. "The Voice" and "The X Factor (US)", as well as "America's Next Top Model" and "Survivor: One World".
The FOX talent show additionally puts last year's Top 2 finalists, Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina, in Choice TV: Male Reality Star and Female Reality Star respectively. Meanwhile, judges Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler get one nomination each for TV personality.
In Choice TV Show: Drama, "Gossip Girl" is facing off "Pretty Little Liars", "Bones", "Revenge" and "Touch". "Glee" is once again nominated for Choice TV Show: Comedy, while recently canceled "Chuck" is vying for Choice TV Show: Action.
Teen Choice Awards is held annually to celebrate the hottest teen icons in television, music, film, sports, fashion, comedy and the web. Fans ages 13-19 can cast votes for their favorites on the official TCA website. The winners will be announced in a two-hour event airing live Sunday, July 22 at 8 P.M. ET on FOX.
