Taylor Swift has once again cemented her dominance in the music world, leading the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards nominations with a remarkable 10 nods. Her hit collaboration "Fortnight" with Post Malone has contributed largely to her tally, earning nominations for top categories such as Video of the Year, Artist of the Year, and Best Pop.
Swift's success is closely followed by Post Malone, who garnered nine nominations, including eight shared with Swift for "Fortnight" and an additional nomination for his solo effort "I Had Some Help," featuring Morgan Wallen.
Ariana Grande, Eminem, and Sabrina Carpenter each bagged six nominations while SZA and Megan Thee Stallion followed with five nods each. Artists like LISA, Olivia Rodrigo, and Teddy Swims each earned four nominations.
This year's VMAs also highlight a fresh batch of talent, with 29 first-time nominees. Among them are Sabrina Carpenter and Teddy Swims along with Benson Boone and Tyla, who each secured three nominations. Other notable first-time nominees include Chappell Roan, Coco Jones, and Morgan Wallen.
The coveted Video of the Year award sees stiff competition among Ariana Grande's "we can't be friends (wait for your love)," Billie Eilish's "Lunch," Doja Cat's "Paint the Town Red," Eminem's "Houdini," SZA's "Snooze," and Swift and Post Malone's "Fortnight." This marks Eminem's ninth nomination in this category, breaking his own record.
Swift's prolific directorial skills are also up for acknowledgment as she vies for Best Direction for the "Fortnight" video. If she secures four wins this year, she will tie with Beyonce Knowles as the VMAs' top winner unless Beyonce's "Texas Hold 'Em" clinches Song of the Year.
Fans can cast their votes across 15 gender-neutral categories starting today through August 30. Voting for the Best New Artist will continue into the live show on September 10, broadcasted from New York's UBS Arena. This year's VMAs, executive produced by Bruce Gillmer and Jesse Ignjatovic, promise thrilling performances and surprises for music lovers worldwide.
