AceShowbiz - The anticipation is building as the 2024 BET Awards draw near. The ceremony is set to honor Black excellence across music, television, film, and sports on June 30, airing live on BET at 8 P.M. ET/PT. This year's nominations are packed with talent, ensuring a night to remember.
Leading the pack is Drake with seven nominations, including Album of the Year for "For All the Dogs (Scary Hours Edition)", Best Male R&B/Pop Artist, and Best Male Hip Hop Artist. Nicki Minaj follows closely with six nominations, featuring her latest work, "Pink Friday 2", in the Album of the Year category.
This year's nominated artists reflect a vibrant diversity of contributions to the entertainment industry. Female artists have a strong presence, with Beyonce Knowles, Coco Jones, Doja Cat, H.E.R., Muni Long, SZA, Tyla, and Victoria Monet vying for Best Female R&B/Pop Artist. For Best Male R&B/Pop Artist, the nominees are Brent Faiyaz, Bryson Tiller, Burna Boy, Chris Brown, Fridayy, October London, and Usher.
The Best Collaboration category features a blend of groundbreaking tracks, including "All My Life" by Lil Durk featuring J. Cole and "Barbie World" by Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice, to Drake's "Rich Baby Daddy" with Sexyy Red and SZA, amongst others.
Other key categories include Best Female and Male Hip Hop Artist, with heavyweights like Cardi B, Doja Cat, Megan Thee Stallion, J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar competing. Video of the Year sees entries from Doja Cat's "Agora Hills" to Victoria Monet's "On My Mama."
The BET Awards also recognize achievements beyond music. The Best Movie category is stacked with contenders such as "American Fiction," "Renaissance: A Film by Beyonce," and "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse."
