Ayo Edebiri emerged as one of the most celebrated and versatile talents of her generation, an actress, comedian, and writer whose meteoric rise was cemented by her acclaimed performance in the hit series The Bear. Born Funmilayo Edebiri on October 3, 1995, in Boston, Massachusetts, she is the daughter of a Barbadian mother and a Nigerian father. Her creative path began not in performance but in writing; she studied teaching and dramatic writing at New York University, initially envisioning a career as a playwright.
