Lil Uzi Vert, whose real name is Symere Woods, was born on July 31, 1994 in North Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He gained his stage name and notoriety from his rapid-fire delivery. The rapper credits his high school friend named William Ashton for getting him into rapping. Influenced mostly by Marilyn Manson, Young Thug, Kanye West and Wiz Khalifa, he made his rap debut by being featured on some of DJ Diamond Kuts' tracks. Uzi Vert kicked his career into high gear in 2015 when he released "Dej Loaf", a track he dedicated to a Detroit vocalist of the same name.

His talent was then noticed by Don Cannon after listening to one of his songs on the radio. Uzi Vert later got a record deal with Cannon, DJ Drama and Leighton Morrison's label, Generation Now, and Atlantic Records. In 2015, Uzi Vert gained massive popularity after being featured on Carnage's song "WDYW" along with A$AP Ferg and Rich The Kid.

Following the successful collaboration, Uzi Vert released his third mixtape "Luv Is Rage", which boasts appearances from Wiz Khalifa and Young Thug, in December 2015. The fourth mixtape, "Lil Uzi Vert Vs. The World", was released in the following year and debuted on the top 50 on Billboard 200 chart. Two tracks of the set, "You Was Right" and "Money Longer", also landed on Billboard Hot 100.

Uzi Vert's fifth mixtape, "The Perfect Luv Tape", was released on his 22nd birthday on July 31, 2016. 2016 seemed to be a very bright year for Uzi Vert's career as by the end of the year, he scored the first Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 single as a featured artist for his collaborative track with hip-hop group Migos, "Bad and Boujee". The viral hit also marked his highest charting single.

Uzi Vert is nominated in three categories at the 2017 Billboard Music Awards. One category for Top Artist and two categories, Top Rap Song and Top Rap Collaboration, for "Bad and Boujee". He plans to release his sixth mixtape, "Luv is Rage 2", in the same year.
