AceShowbiz - "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" leads the pack in the nominations list of the upcoming 25th annual MTV Movie Awards. The J.J. Abrams-directed flick dominates with a whopping 11 nods. Superhero movies "Deadpool" and "Avengers: Age of Ultron" follow with eight and seven respectively.
"The Force Awakens" duo John Boyega and Daisy Ridley are nominated for Breakthrough Performance while "Deadpool" trio Ryan Reynolds, Morena Baccarin and Ed Skrein are up for Best Male, Best Female and Best Villain. Chris Evans is vying for Best Hero for "Ultron" and James Spader is for Best Virtual Performance.
All the three feature films are vying for the most coveted prize, Movie of the Year. They are joined in the stiff competition by a Jurassic reboot "Jurassic World" and two Oscar snubs, "Creed" and "Straight Outta Compton".
The N.W.A. biopic is also up for new category, True Story, facing off another Academy snub "Concussion", Oscar nominees "The Big Short" and "The Revenant", as well as "Joy" which gave Jennifer Lawrence her fourth Academy nod and "Steve Jobs" which gave Michael Fassbender his second Oscar nod.
Fans can vote for their favorites on MTV.com. Winners will be announced live April 10 at Warner Brothers Studios in California. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Best Hero and Best Action Performance nominee for "San Andreas", is set to host the awards show with his "Central Intelligence" co-star Kevin Hart, who is nominated for Best Comedic Performance for "Ride Along 2".
