AceShowbiz - The nominees of the 2016 BRITs were announced on Thursday, January 14, and Adele is of course dominating. The 27-year-old blonde is up for four awards including British Female Solo Artist, British Artist Video of the Year for "Hello" and British Album of the Year for "25".
Also scoring four nominations are James Bay and Years & Years. Both acts are nominated alongside Catfish & the Bottlemen, Jess Glynne and Wolf Alice for the British Breakthrough Act Award. Bay's "Hold Back the River" and Years & Years' "King" are also competing against hits by Adele, Ellie Goulding and Ed Sheeran among others in the British Single category.
Other big names featured in the nominees list of the 2016 BRITs include Calvin Harris, One Direction, Coldplay and surprisingly the late Amy Winehouse. Harris is vying for the top prizes in three different categories that include British Male Solo Artist.
1D and Coldplay, who both bag two nods, are nominated alongside Blur, Foals and Years & Years for the British Group trophy. Winehouse, meanwhile, is in contention for British Female Solo Artist nearly five years after her death.
The 2016 BRIT Awards is scheduled to take place on February 24 at London's O2 Arena. Adele has been tapped to perform at the annual event, which will also include a special musical tribute to David Bowie who passed away last weekend after 18-month battle with cancer.
