JANUARY
The beginning of 2009 turned out to be John Travolta and Kelly Preston's nightmare due to the sudden death of their young son Jett Travolta. The 16-year-old boy passed away during a family vacation in the Bahamas on January 2 after hitting his head on a bathtub while suffering a seizure. The exact cause of his death was ruled as seizure disorder instead of head trauma.

Facing two felonies; assault and making criminal threats, Chris escaped jail time after his lawyer scored a plea deal, resulting in him being sentenced to 5 years probation and 180 days of community service.

Natasha Richardson passed away on March 18 after suffering head injury as a result of an accident she experienced during a private skiing lesson on a beginners trail at the Mont Tremblant Resort in Quebec, Canada two days before. She was 45 and is survived by actor husband Liam Neeson and sons Micheal Richard Antonio and Daniel Jack. The New York City medical examiner's office confirmed the Tony Award-winning star suffered from an "epidural hematoma due to blunt impact to the head", which causes bleeding between the skull and the brain's covering that then led to her death.
