Miley Cyrus Caught in Racism Photo Scandal
Celebrity

Neither Miley Cyrus nor her camp has commented on the OCA's accusation claiming the star has offended Asians by pulling her eyelids back in order to imitate their slanted eyes.

No stranger to nude photo scandal, Miley Cyrus finds herself getting trapped in a new serious problem after Asian-American group OCA accuses her of poking fun at Asians. The accusation is made after a picture of the Disney actress-singer appears on the net, showing her and some of her friends, including Justin Gaston, pull their eyelids back to look like Asians while one Asian-American male sits among them.

In a statement issued to TMZ, the OCA, which is described as a group "dedicated to advancing the social, political and economic well-being of Asian Pacific Americans", claims it is "fuming at this photo of Miley and pals for using what they have deemed an offensive, stereotypical gesture." Due to such fact, officials at OCA are demanding an apology from Miley.

"Not only has Miley Cyrus and the other individuals in the photograph encouraged and legitimized the taunting and mocking of people of Asian descent, she has also insulted her many Asian Pacific American fans," George Wu, executive director of OCA, says. "We hope that Miley Cyrus will apologise to her fans and the APA community for this lapse in judgment and takes the opportunity to better understand why the gesture is offensive."

At time of writing, no comment has been made by Miley herself or her people regarding the racism accusation.
