Calvin Cordozar Broadus born on October 20, 1971 in Long Beach, California, was previously labeled "Snoopy" by his mother that in present day he took the stage name Snoop Doggy Dogg, which later changed to Snoop Dogg when he began recording. He is in the 2000s known as either rap musician or actor, many people believe as one of rap's true legends. During his youth that was after graduated from high school, Snoop Dogg was frequently in trouble with drugs and law, in and out of jail for nearly three years. Released from jail he embarked on making homemade rap tapes with his friend Warren G, who was a stepbrother of Dr. Dre of N.W.A. After all, Dr. Dre asked him for collaborations, first on the theme song of the film "Deep Cover," and then on Dr. Dre's debut solo album "The Chronic."

In August 1993, Snoop Dogg recorded his own debut album "Doggystyle" with Dre, during which he was arrested for shooting death a member of a rival gang named Phillip Woldermarian who was later revealed to have had a secret obsession with him. Defended himself to not guilty because he allegedly drove the car while his bodyguard McKinley Lee fired the fatal shots on self defense grounds, he had yet to remain entangled in the legal battles around the case for three years. Shortly after in November 1993 the "Doggystyle" album was released under Death Row Records. It successfully became the first debut album ever to enter the charts at number one, helping to fuel the ascendant of West Coast "G Funk" rap. Moreover, the album's singles "What's My Name" and "Gin and Juice" had gone to the top ten, with the album itself remained in the charts for several months, even as controversy raged over the murder trial and Snoop Dogg violent and sexist lyrics. Such controversy resulted in Gangsta rap becoming the center of arguments for censorship and labeling, with Snoop often used as an example of violent and misogynistic musician.

Came after that was a short film about the trial called "Murder Was The Case," and an accompanying soundtrack, all of which were released in 1994. Two years later in November 1996, by the time Snoop Dogg's second album "Tha Doggfather" was released, both the furor and popularity of gangsta rap had begun to fade. This situation was made worse by the death of Tupac Shakur, Snoop's good friend before and while they were label mates, and the racketeering accusation of Death Row co-founder Suge Knight. This caused Snoop to draw his back a bit from hard-core gangsta rap, decided to perform along the hard rock Lollapalooza tour in 1997, and make several film appearances. In between the year of 1998 to 2000, the star kept producing more music albums, naming that of "Da Game Is to Be Sold Not to Be Told" which was certified two times Platinum, "No Limit Top Dogg" that spawned the hit singles "Bitch Please" and "Down 4 my N'z", and "Tha Last Meal".

Additionally, he also started producing and directing music videos for himself and other artists, before then in 2001 released an autobiography. On top of that, in 2002 Snoop announced his giving up drinking and drugs that he later that year could favorably release his next solo album, "Paid tha Cost to Be da Bo$$," which featured the hit singles and videos "From Da Chuuuch to Da Palace" and "Beautiful" among others, featuring guest vocal by The Neptunes' Pharrell Williams. Besides, Snoop had also had some other collaboration with Silkk the Shocker, C-Murder, B-Legit, Babyface, Bad Azz, Bizzy Bone, Mariah Carey, Bootsy Collins, The D.O.C., Daz Dillinger, Dr. Dre, and Nate Dogg.

Even with sound that has been heavily influenced by funk and R&B, Snoop Dogg's music has somehow represented samples from earlier black artists and groups, including James Brown, Marvin Gaye, and Parliament. Famous for his talent in using slang invented by fellow rapper E-40, much of which is simply derived by adding an "izz" or "izzle" sound to the word, a large number of Snoop's songs also mention "the LBC," a reference to the city of Long Beach, the Long Beach Crips or Long Beach, California. For such unique talent, Snoop had successfully won two Adult Video News (AVN) awards for Best Music Soundtrack and Top Selling Tape for the X-rated film "Snoop Dogg's Doggystyle" (2001) (V).

On April 11, 2003, Snoop was fortunately unhurt after a drive-by shooting on Fairfax Avenue in Los Angeles, California, during which he was riding in a motorcade of five vehicles with seven armed bodyguards, when three men in another car fired multiple rounds from a semi-automatic handgun. One of the rapper's bodyguards was injured in the incident. One year later, on May 21, 2004, Snoop filed for divorce from his wife Shante Broadus, whom he married on June 12, 1997. Citing irreconcilable differences the rapper seek joint custody of their three children, Corde, Cordell, and Cori. They had since reconciled.

Moved on, the rapper-actor added at least two more movie projects to his resume. The first happened to be an animated fantasy flick "Arthur and the Invisibles" (2007) where he starred alongside the likes of Freddie Highmore, Madonna, David Bowie, and Mia Farrow. The other one was that of comedy drama horror genre, "Hood of Horror" (2007), consists three blood-soaked tales revolving around the residents of an inner-city neighborhood whose actions they have done in their life determine their next destination in the afterlife. Subsequent to the release of the movies, Snoop had his next solo album "Blue Carpet Treatment" in stores on November 21, 2006. This album was later on promoted through joint concerts with his old time rival, P. Diddy in a tour dubbed "One Love Peace". Ironically, the tour could not proceed to UK as the 5 dates in the country approached. Just 3 days before his gig at Wembley Arena in London, he was stopped by the local authority that would not give him a visa to enter the country. According to the authority, Snoop was a person seen unfit for the public good. This matter was, to many, considered as the prolong effect of the chaos that he had created in Heathrow Airport on April 26, 2006 where he assaulted some officers when stopped to enter British Airways' first class lounge.

Beside being appointed as the hist of MTV Europe Music Awards, Snoop filled 2007 with preparation of his next release. The album which is tentatively titled 'Ego Trippin'' is slated for 2008 release. In October 2007, Snoop had deliberately leaked the first single from the album called 'Sexual Eruption' that was put up on his MySpace page to see reaction of fans.
