Kris Kristofferson and Zooey Deschanel take the stage at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas to pay tribute to the 'Speak Now' hitmaker.
More winners were announced at 2012 Billboard Music Awards. After Justin Bieber, Katy Perry and Wiz Khalifa collected prizes for Top Social Artist, Spotlight Award and Top New Artist respectively, it was Taylor Swift's turn to take the stage and accept hers.
Swift was honored with Woman of the Year gong. Before presenting the special honor to the singer, Kris Kristofferson and Zooey Deschanel paid tribute to her with the former telling the star-studded crowd inside the MGM Grand Arena about her "old fashioned" accomplishments of finding success.
"That was so nice!" the country music cutie said upon receiving the prize. "The first time I ever saw my song on the Billboard charts I was 16, and I was in a rental car going to homeschool. That seems like forever ago." "Humbled and honored" by the honor, she additionally thanked Kris, Zooey and her fans.
Next, Jason Derulo presented Top Hot 100 Song to LMFAO for their hit "Party Rock Anthem". Redfoo and SkyBlu won over Adele ("Rolling in the Deep"), Katy Perry ("E.T."), Maroon 5 ("Moves Like Jagger"), and Pitbull ("Give Me Everything").
Khalifa returned to the stage to announce the winner of Top Duo/Group. Before presenting the award, he paid tribute to Beastie Boys' Adam Yauch. And, the title went to LMFAO who beat Black Eyed Peas, Coldplay, Lady Antebellum and Maroon 5. "I love this! I love everybody here and I love everybody that loves music!" SkyBlu said.
Ealier in the evening, the electropop duo kicked the awards show at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday, May 20 at 8/7c by performing "Party Rock Anthem" / "Sexy and I Know It". The event was hosted by "Modern Family" stars Ty Burrell and Julie Bowen.
The other stars who have already performed included Kelly Clarkson, The Wanted, Chris Brown, Usher, Carly Rae Jepsen, Bieber and Carrie Underwood. Catering the crowd next would be the likes of Linkin Park, Nelly Furtado, Alicia Keys, Stevie Wonder, Jordin Sparks and John Legend.
