Nominees for next year's People's Choice Awards have been announced in a press conference which was held at the Paley Center for Media in Beverly Hills, California on Tuesday, November 8. Coming to help reveal the lucky celebrities, who make it to the list, included Joe Jonas, Sharon Osbourne, Julianne Hough, Kaley Cuoco and Jennifer Morrison.
It's revealed that music field on the upcoming awards show is dominated by female artists. "Telephone" duet partners Lady GaGa and Beyonce Knowles receive the most nods along with fellow female singer Katy Perry by grabbing five nominations each. Their domination is followed by British pop sensation Adele who scores four nods. Taylor Swift trails closely behind her with three.
All of those five ladies bump into one another in a tough battle for Favorite Female Artist. They, except for Taylor, meet each other again in a stiff competition for Favorite Music Video which includes LMFAO as another competitor. GaGa, Beyonce and Katy continue their battle in Favorite Pop Artist along with Demi Lovato and Rihanna.
The Mother Monster gets her fourth and fifth nods in Favorite Song of the Year and Favorite Album of the Year. The outlandish singer who just won big at 2011 MTV Europe Music Awards fights off Katy, Adele, LMFAO and Maroon 5 in the former category, and competes against Beyonce, Adele, Britney Spears and Lady Antebellum in the latter.
Beyonce and Katy make up their five nominations in Favorite R&B Artist and Favorite Tour Headliner respectively. The "Countdown" singer has to beat Bruno Mars, Chris Brown, Ne-Yo and Rihanna to become the most favorite singer in Rhythm and Blues genre. Meanwhile, the "E.T." hitmaker has to take down Taylor, Bon Jovi, U2 and Usher to be named the best tour headliner.
Other artists who receive more than one nod include Eminem and Blake Shelton. The two men face off each other in Favorite Male Artist alongside Bruno, Enrique Iglesias and Justin Bieber. The Slim Shady also vies for Favorite Hip Hop Artist along with B.o.B, Jay-Z, Nicki Minaj and Pitbull. Blake, meanwhile, grabs his other nod in Favorite Country Artist which lists Taylor, Lady A, Keith Urban and Rascal Flatts as his competitors.
Celebrating its 38th anniversary, People's Choice Awards will hand out coveted trophies to honor the best in music, movie and TV on January 11, 2012. The star-studded prize-giving event will be broadcast live from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, California on CBS at 9:00 P.M. ET. Fans can vote for their favorite by visiting PCAs official site.
