2012 People's Choice Awards Nominees in TV: 'Glee', 'Vampire Diaries' and More

The FOX musical series leads the pack with seven nominations including for Favorite TV Comedy, followed by the CW fantasy series with four noms.

AceShowbiz - The nominations of the 38th Annual People's Choice Awards have been announced early Tuesday, November 8, unveiling "Glee" domination in television categories. The popular musical series bags seven noms, more than any other TV shows.

"Glee" is vying for Favorite Network TV Comedy. To win the coveted title, the FOX show must compete with other nominees, including "The Big Bang Theory, "How I Met Your Mother", "Modern Family" and "Two and a Half Men".

Additonally, its stars Lea Michele and Jane Lynch are going head to head for Favorite TV Comedy Actress, while Chris Colfer and Cory Monteith are competing for Favorite TV Comedy Actor. The Emmy-winning show also helps Gwyneth Paltrow and Kristin Chenoweth to get nomination in Favorite TV Guest Star category.

Trailing behind "Glee" is "The Vampire Diaries" with four. The CW series is nominated for Favorite Network TV Drama which also sees "The Good Wife", "Grey's Anatomy", "House M.D." and "Supernatural" as the contenders. It once again bumps into "Supernatural" in Favorite Sci-Fi/Fantasy Show category.

One of the lead actors, Ian Somerhalder, is also honored with Favorite TV Drama Actor nomination. The Damon depicter has since taken to Twitter to express his gratitude by writing, "Peoples choice? Thank you!! Thank you so very much. TVD loves and thanks you all!" His co-star and rumored girlfriend Nina Dobrev also gets a chance to win a trophy for Favorite TV Drama Actress.

Other shows receiving multiple nominations are "Bones", "Grey's Anatomy", "HIMYM" and "Big Bang" which get three each.

Fans can vote for their favorites in TV, movie and music starting today until December 6 on the official People's Choice Awards site. Voting for the Favorite New TV Drama and Favorite New TV Comedy, however, will remain open until the awarding ceremony takes place on January 11, 2012 at 9/8c. CBS will broadcast the show.
