AceShowbiz - "The Favourite" looks set for victory at the 2019 British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Film Awards after earning 12 nominations.

As well as receiving a nod for Best Film and Outstanding British Film, Olivia Colman is up for the Best Leading Actress prize - hot on the heels of her Golden Globe award win. Meanwhile, her co-stars Emma Stone and Rachel Weisz will battle it out for the Best Supporting Actress gong, but will also have some tough competition, however, from Amy Adams for "Vice (2018)", Claire Foy for "First Man" and Margot Robbie for "Mary Queen of Scots".

"A Star Is Born" also received multiple nominations, as expected, including one for director Bradley Cooper and star Lady GaGa. GaGa missed out on a Golden Globe for her role as wannabe singer Ally in the film, to Glenn Close for "The Wife", and will face the actress once again in the Leading Actress category. The pair will also compete against Melissa McCarthy for "Can You Ever Forgive Me?" and Viola Davis for "Widows".

In addition to being nominated for Best Director for "A Star Is Born", his directorial debut, Bradley features in the Best Leading Actor category. He also faces the person he lost the equivalent Golden Globe to - Rami Malek for "Bohemian Rhapsody" - as well as Christian Bale for "Vice", Steve Coogan for "Stan & Ollie" and Viggo Mortensen for "Green Book".

Viggo's "Green Book" co-star Mahershala Ali received a nomination for Best Supporting Actor, meanwhile, and will battle it out against Timothee Chalamet for "Beautiful Boy", Richard E. Grant for "Can You Ever Forgive Me?", Sam Rockwell for "Vice" and Adam Driver for "BlacKkKlansman".

Spike Lee's "BlacKkKlansman" also saw him receive a nomination for Best Director, and will go up for Best Film against "A Star Is Born", "The Favourite", "Green Book" and "Roma". Since 2000, when the BAFTAs changed their place in the calendar to take place before the Oscars, eight of the Best Picture BAFTA winners have gone on to win the equivalent prize at the Academy Awards.

It was previously announced that Letitia Wright, Keith Stanfield, Cynthia Erivo, Barry Keoghan and Jessie Buckley will compete for the EE Rising Star prize at the awards.

The nominations were announced on Wednesday morning (January 09) by "The Maze Runner" star Will Poulter and "I, Daniel Blake" star Hayley Squires.

The 2019 BAFTA Film Awards take place on February 10 at London's Royal Albert Hall, and will be hosted by Joanna Lumley for the second consecutive year.
