Other winners at the show which is still underway at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville include Dierks Bentley, Tim McGraw, Chris Stapleton and Thomas Rhett.

AceShowbiz - The 50th annual Country Music Association Awards has handed out some of the biggest awards at the event. Being nominated in several categories including Male Vocalist of the Year and Song of the Year, Eric Church took home a gong for Album of the Year. His "Mr. Misunderstood" beat out Dierks Bentley's "Black", Maren Morris' "Hero", Keith Urban's "Ripcord" and Carrie Underwood's "Storyteller".

Morris and Bentley wouldn't come home empty handed though. The former has been named New Artist of the Year, edging out Kelsea Ballerini, Brothers Osborne, Old Dominion and Cole Swindell.

Bentley, meanwhile, was announced earlier Wednesday, November 2 on "Good Morning America" as the winner of Musical Event of the Year for "Different for Girls" featuring Elle King. Another winner announced on "GMA" was Chris Stapleton, who grabbed Music Video of the Year for his "Fire Away" visuals.

Tim McGraw lost to Stapleton for Music Video of the Year title, but he snatched Song of the Year for "Humble and Kind" written by Lori McKenna. Single of the Year went to Thomas Rhett for "Die a Happy Man". Brothers Osborne was hailed as Vocal Duo of the Year and Little Big Town beat out Lady Antebellum, Old Dominion, Rascal Flatts and Zac Brown Band as Vocal Group of the Year.

Other awards for Entertainer of the Year, Male and Female Vocalist of the Year will be announced later. The show will also honor Dolly Parton with the Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award and Kenny Chesney with the Pinnacle Award.

Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley are hosting the event which is held at Nashville's Bridgestone Arena and airs live on ABC.
