TV

Carrey appears on 'Celebrity Jeopardy' with Will Ferrell, while Norton tries to impersonate Stefon only to be interrupted by the original depicter, Bill Hader, in 'Weekend Update'.

AceShowbiz - Jim Carrey delivered his best take on Matthew McConaughey on the "Saturday Night Live" 40th anniversary special. He appeared halfway through "Celebrity Jeopardy" sketch where Will Ferrell stepped in as host Alex Trebek.

Darrell Hammond returned as Sean Connery, Kate McKinnon mocked Justin Bieber, Alec Baldwin channeled Tony Bennett, Taran Killam impersonated Christoph Waltz, and Norm MacDonald portrayed Burt Reynolds. They annoyed Ferrell's Trebek with their irrelevant answers.

Carrey's McConaughey even recorded a voiceover for his apperance, delivering philosophical lines a la his awards show speeches and his Lincoln ads. The segment also took a jab at Bill Cosby scandal when Kenan Thompson appeared as the disgraced comedian who talked about his favorite cocktail in the "Daily Double" video. Looking panicked, Ferrell's Trebek cut the video and said, "Oh, no! We filmed that in June!"

In another segment, Tina Fey, Amy Poehler and Jane Curtin returned behind the "Weekend Update" desk. After poking fun at the history of the segment, they invited Emma Stone to deliver her take on Roseanne Roseannadanna. Edward Norton was also given a chance to impersonate Stefon, but the original depicter Bill Hader showed up to correct Norton's hand gesture. Seth Meyers, Stefon's "husband", also showed up and revealed they now have kids.

Melissa McCarthy later appeared as Matt Foley, the character made famous by the late Chris Farley. She over-enthusiastically introduced herself and threw herself on the "Weekend Update" desk, causing it to break in half. The segment ended with a montage of videos from best "Weekend Update" moments.

Andy Samberg and Adam Sandler, meanwhile, teamed up for a new digital short, singing "That's When You Break" to highlight hilarious moments when the "SNL" players couldn't hold their laughs during the show's taping. Old sketckes played while the duo sang and they mostly showed Jimmy Fallon and Horatio Sanz's scenes.

Mike Myers and Dana Carvey also appeared as Wayne Campbell and Garth Algar respectively to present the top ten essential things about "Saturday Night Live". At one point, they poked fun at Kanye West's Grammy antics by saying Beck was a better musical guest than Beyonce Knowles and told him to stay on his seat and not to come onstage. The duo also impersonated the "SNL" creator, Lorne Michaels.

Eddie Murphy also returned to deliver a monologue after Chris Rock gave a heartfelt tribute to Murphy.
