Competition gets stiff at the 72nd Golden Globe Awards as it welcomes some new additions like 'Jane the Virgin' and gives cold shoulder to some frequent past nominees like 'Modern Family'.
- Dec 12, 2014
AceShowbiz - Nominees for the 72nd annual Golden Globe Awards have been announced by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association bright and early Thursday, December 11 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. Past winner Jeremy Piven, past nominee Peter Krause, Kate Beckinsale, and Paula Patton took turn reading the list.
In TV categories, FX's "Fargo" and HBO's "True Detective" lead the pack with five and four nods respectively. In terms of the broadcasters, HBO dominates with 15 nominations.
Meanwhile, noticeably absent from the contention is "Modern Family" which was announced a day before as the leader of 2015 SAG nominations. Also getting snubbed are the likes of "Sons of Anarchy", "Boardwalk Empire", and "Mad Men". Instead, newbies like "Jane the Virgin" and "Transparent" are added to the list.
The winners including those from the movie categories will be feted at a live ceremony set to take place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California on January 11, 2015. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are scheduled to host the prestigious event for the third time in a row.
