Sandra brings Claire to the hospital. Claire's whole system is infected, and either she's never been sick in her life, or Sandra's lying about what happened. Meanwhile, Sylar and Elle make love. Sylar realizes that being free of both powers and parents offers a chance to reinvent himself, when suddenly H.R.G. opens fire on the couple. Elle is shot in the thigh as Sylar drags her out of the house, leaving a trail of blood behind.

In Samedi's camp, Nathan tries to make friends with two young girls chained beside him. Samedi enters for verbal sparring and unchains one of the girls to do his bidding. Back at Pinehearst, Mohinder has made no progress on restoring everyone's abilities; maybe the eclipse thing is just a coincidence. When Arthur wonders if Mohinder needs more motivation, Flint burns Mohinder's hand with his lighter.

Matt is astounded to see Daphne wearing leg braces. She explains that she has cerebral palsy. Last year, she could barely move. Then there was an eclipse, and suddenly she was the fastest person in the world. Matt admits that both he and Hiro have lost their powers. Daphne thinks that Arthur is punishing them and she's a bad person, but Matt insists that she's good. When her father returns, Daphne shows Matt the door.

Mohinder prepares a syringe for Flint, who wonders if Mohinder thinks he's stupid. Mohinder admits that he does, then clocks Flint with a microscope. Mohinder manages to knock Flint out, then grabs Maya's address and runs. At the comic book store in Kansas, Hiro asks for the latest "9th Wonders," then settles down to scan the comic book for answers.

Sylar patches Elle's wound on the floor of a drug store. He knows that Elle's trail of blood will lead H.R.G. to them, and wants to split up. Elle insists that H.R.G. is now more powerful than them, and won't hesitate to kill them both. She wants to set a trap for H.R.G., since their numbers are their only advantage. Back in Haiti, Samedi takes the girl into his shack. The Haitian knocks out Samedi and Peter ties him up.

Matt runs into the comic book store to ask if Hiro figured out why their powers aren't working. Hiro doesn't know, but Frack theorizes that their powers will return when the eclipse ends in 20 minutes. After all, there was an eclipse the day everything changed on the Yamagato roof. Overwhelmed to read about the death of his father and other tragedies of his life, Hiro locks himself in the bathroom.

Peter and the Haitian free Nathan. Peter insists on staying behind with a rifle, allowing Nathan and the Haitian -- who are more important than him -- to escape. In the hospital, Claire asks for H.R.G. She knows Sandra lies when she claims he'll be there soon. Claire cries; she's just a stupid teenager who screwed everything up. When she faints away with septic shock, Sandra screams for the doctor.

In the basement beneath the drug store, Sylar throws Elle into a freight elevator, jams the door and waves goodbye. He ambushes H.R.G. and a fight ensues. H.R.G. grabs a box cutter and slits Sylar's throat, leaving him to bleed out and die. Back in the hospital, the doctor cracks Claire's chest and shocks her heart, but Claire dies on the table.

Sandra lifts the sheet off Claire's head just as the eclipse ends and sunlight fills the room. Suddenly Claire takes a deep breath and starts healing. Matt makes it back to Daphne's but she's already gone. When his powers come back, Matt hears Daphne's thoughts, which lead him to her in the cornfield. Matt knows that Daphne came to Kansas to do something good, and encourages her to make things right with her dad.

Peter fights the good fight against Samedi's men, but he runs out of bullets and is forced to surrender. Their powers returned, the Haitian and Nathan emerge to defeat Samedi's men and rescue Peter. But Samedi's powers have come back, too; he chides the Haitian for not killing him when he had the chance. Nathan and Peter do their best to kill Samedi, but no dice. Finally, the Haitian steps in to fully wipe his brother's mind.

Mohinder knocks on Maya's door. Seeing scales on his hand, he leaves before she opens the door. Back in Kansas, Sam manages to talk Hiro out of the bathroom with a motivational speech. One person can make a difference, you just have to believe. Frack is still poring over the comic books, spying a frame where Hiro and Claire hide together in the rooftop greenhouse. Maybe Hiro has to take Claire there to get his memory back...

H.R.G. finds Claire in her bedroom, angry that he deserted her again. He's shocked to learn that she died. Claire doesn't think it matters to him, but he assures her it does as he runs downstairs to find Sylar and Elle holding Sandra captive. Sylar secures H.R.G. high on a wall and prepares to take Claire to Arthur. H.R.G. tells Sylar that neither Angela nor Arthur are his parents -- they're just using him. If Sylar doesn't believe him, he should ask Elle...

Sylar is just cutting H.R.G.'s throat when Hiro appears. He grabs Sylar and teleports away, then returns for Elle. Hiro returns once again for Claire, leaving H.R.G. and Sandra standing dumbfounded and alone. Matt and Daphne return to the comic book store looking for Hiro. Matt tells Ando to look in the comic books to learn where Hiro is, but Sam informs them that they've already seen the last issue of "9th Wonders."

Sam recalls a legend of the comic book world he heard at a convention. Even though the posthumous issues of "9th Wonders" have all been printed, there is one last story. The day Isaac died, he supposedly bequeathed his sketchbook to an anonymous bike messenger. All they have to do is find him.

Having escaped into the jungle, Nathan thanks the Haitian and compliments Peter. Even if Nathan doesn't agree with Peter's decisions, he knows they come from the heart. However, Nathan is going to Pinehearst, because he thinks that his father's idea of giving the "right people" abilities is right. If they don't try to stop the world's wrongs, they're just as guilty as the evildoers.

Peter thinks Nathan is dead wrong. Nathan tells Peter to call the Embassy for help getting home, and flies off, leaving Peter alone at night in the jungle. Scaly and dejected, Mohinder returns to his lab at Pinehearst. Arthur assures him they'll find a cure, but Mohinder will have to deal with the monster growing inside him by himself.

Sylar and Elle find themselves on the beach. Sylar asks if H.R.G. was lying about his parents. Elle claims that he was, but flinches when Sylar touches her face. Sylar claims that now that his powers are back, he understands that he's never going to change, and neither is Elle. They're both damaged goods. He starts drawing a line on Elle's forehead, as her screams echo through the cliffs.

Hiro teleports Claire to the rooftop greenhouse in Manhattan 16 years ago, to view the scene just like in the comic book. As young Hiro plays a handheld game, Kaito hands over baby Claire. H.R.G. doesn't want the responsibility of being a father, but can't help falling in love with his new daughter, despite Kaito's warning not to get too close.
