AceShowbiz - Oscar-nominated screenwriter James Toback has signed on to rewrite John Travolta's new Gotti family biopic with director Barry Levinson. The filmmaker and the writer teamed up on "Bugsy" in 1991; Toback is also the acclaimed director of "When Will I Be Loved" and documentary "Tyson".

"Gotti: Three Generations" producer Marc Fiore tells WENN, "Everyone involved with the film is very excited to have James Toback on-board. His work with Barry Levinson on Bugsy resulted in a highly acclaimed film that was widely recognized for its original screenplay."

Travolta will play mob boss John Gotti in the film, which will also feature Lindsay Lohan and Joe Pesci. The drama movie itself reveals the relationship of a father who lived and died by the mob code and a son who chose to leave that world behind and redeem himself.
