On Saturday, October 17, Spike TV honored sci-fi, horror, fantasy and comic-inspired films and TV shows through its 4th annual Scream Awards and unveiled "Twilight" and "True Blood" as the two dominant winners. The vampire drama movie and TV series were each taking home four kudos.

"Twilight" grabbed the title of Best Fantasy Movie, in addition to three other awards for its stars. Robert Pattinson was hailed Best Fantasy Actor, Kristen Stewart got Best Fantasy Actress and Taylor Lautner landed Breakout Performance Male. Both Pattinson and Stewart missed the gala ceremony, but Lautner was present to debut exclusive "The Twilight Saga's New Moon" footage.

"True Blood", in the meantime, took home Best TV Show kudo, Best Horror Actor and Actress, and Best Villain. On- and off-screen lovers Stephen Moyer and Anna Paquin were the ones collecting the most votes for the horror actor and actress, while the Eric Northman's depicter Alexander Skarsgard was hailed Best Villain.

Other movies scoring multiple wins on the special night were "Star Trek" and "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen". "Star Trek" collected The Ultimate Scream Movie, Best Science Fiction Movie and Best Director awards, and "Revenge of the Fallen" secured Best Sci-Fi Actress for Megan Fox, Breakout Performance Female for Isabel Lucas and Best Visual Effects.

This gala ceremony of Scream 2009 was taped at The Greek Theater in Los Angeles. Spike TV will air the two-hour extravaganza on Tuesday, October 27 from 10:00 P.M. ET/PT. Jessica Alba, Kate Bosworth, Harrison Ford, Justin Long, Christina Ricci, Johnny Depp and Morgan Freeman were among the presenters. William Shatner made a special appearance as well.

I'm glad that Twilight and True Blood won because it is reinforcing my theory that the world is going to shit. I think the apocalyptic movie 2012 should have been about how shitty award shows take up every hour of every channel to promote their crappy 16 year-old-female-catered movies to an audience who can't find any better show on the air and all human individuality ceases to exist...then the earth starts crumbling into itself. I think the earth crumbling would be the only justice to what popular television is doing to society. But I'm glad Star Trek at least won something...

Not defending Twilight, as I think its crap, but since the first came out in Nov 2008, it didn't make it into the 2008 Scream awards, thus it is in the 2009 one.
