Academy Award winners Morgan Freeman and Frances McDormand, as well as Golden Globe actor Peter Gallagher are heading for Broadway. The threesome are set to star in Mike Nichols' Broadway revival of Clifford Odets' "The Country Girl."
Odet's "The Country Girl" tells the story of Georgie, played by McDormand, who is married to a has-been alcoholic actor Frank Elgin, Freeman's character, who is now down on his luck. It was not until Frank is offered a major role by hotshot director Bernie Dodd, played by Gallagher, that he has the chance to make a major comeback.
Antonio Banderas and Morgan Freeman Working Together in The Code

Looks like this will be a future collaboration worth to wait for. Report from Variety has informed that Antonio Banderas and Morgan Freeman are both poised to highlight a caper drama titled "The Code" which Nu Image's Millennium Films is producing.
Freeman is said to play a veteran thief who recruits a younger crook, set to be portrayed by Banderas, to help him pull off one final job in order to repay his debt to a Russian mob. Filming is due to start by mid-October in Sofia, Bulgaria at Nu Boyana Film Center, owned by Nu Image, under the direction of "Deep Impact" helmer Mimi Leder.

Set to take the similar step made by fellow thespian Forest Whitaker in "The Last King of Scotland", Morgan Freeman has given his commitment to play real-life leader of former South African President Nelson Mandela in independently financed drama "The Human Factor."
Based on John Carlin's upcoming book "The Human Factor: Nelson Mandela and the Game That Changed the World", the project is set after the fall of apartheid, when South Africa hosted the 1995 Rugby World Cup. Mandela was in his first term as the president of South Africa, and he used the event as a means to end decades of mistrust and hatred between whites and blacks.

Already busy with a pile of upcoming big screen projects he is attached to, Morgan Freeman apparently still aims to add one more acting stint into the burgeoning list. The Oscar-winning actor is reported to currently be in negotiations to highlight "Wanted (2008)", a sci-fi actioner coming from Universal Pictures.
If a deal is reached, Freeman will join James McAvoy in the cast as a lead assassin who trains McAvoy's character. The project itself sees the "Wimbledon" star play a young man who finds out that his long-lost father is actually an assassin and later gets recruited into a covert organization of killers and trained to follow the footsteps of his father.

Academy Award winning actor and director Clint Eastwood tastes the fruit of his hard-work Saturday August 12th when he was presented with a special award from the Motion Picture & Television Fund for his contributions to the Western genre.
Eastwood was presented the Founder's Award during the group's 24th annual Golden Boot Awards held Saturday. The ceremony recognizes actors, stunt people, producers and directors who have furthered the tradition of the Western in film and television.

Julia Roberts is making another debut. This time the senior actress is being tapped as the spokesperson for Earth Biofuels, Inc., a Dallas-based biodiesel producer, while also chairs its new advisory board.
"It's very important that we expand our use of clean energy and make a long-term commitment to it. Biodiesel and ethanol are better for the environment and for the air we breathe," Roberts said in a statement released this week.

Jason Kaminsky, UCLA campus events commissioner, released an announcement Tuesday Feb 21st, 2006 mentioned that the institution is about to honor Morgan Freeman with UCLA's Spencer Tracy Award, which recognizes outstanding screen performances and professional achievement.
Speaking on that matter Kaminsky said "It was said that Spencer Tracy's natural style set him apart from actors of his time and set performance standards for future generations. His other pals, include Tom Hanks, Hilary Swank and Michael Douglas, all of whom happen to be Academy Award winners too, will give their contribution to the planned cookbook dubbed "Morgan Freeman and Friends: Caribbean Cooking for a Cause."
The book, published via Rodale, Inc., is scheduled for a 2006 release. Proceeds for the book will go to the Grenada Relief Fund, a charity Freeman helped set up after Hurricanes Ivan and Emily ravaged the small Caribbean island last year. The auction, which also includes corporate-donated items, opened last Friday on the Charity Folks Web site, an online auction spot, and will run until Sept. 16.

In a ruling announced by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), a United Nations agency which promotes protection of trademarks and patents, Freeman was found to have common law rights to the contested Internet domain name.
And so, Freeman won the case. Ownership of the domain name is transferred within 10 days unless the loser launches a court case challenging the decision.
