'Star Trek' Collects Hollywood Movie Award
October 28, 2009 03:10:41After taking home a number of kudos from 2009 Scream Awards, "Star Trek" has added another award to its collection. On Monday, October 26 at the 13th Annual Hollywood Film Festival which was held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, the J.J. Abrams-directed sci-fi was unveiled to be the winner of Hollywood Movie Award.
Collecting the most votes from Yahoo! Movies visitors, the Zachary Quinto-starring film bested over "District 9", "G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra", "The Hangover", "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince", "Inglourious Basterds", "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" and "Up" among others. Upon receiving the prize, Quinto said, "Gee, I'm shocked the online community chose to honor Star Trek."

Nominees of Scream 2009 Announced
September 01, 2009 10:09:41The fourth annual Scream 2009 will take place in less than two months. With that in mind, Spike TV released the list of nominees for the awards honoring the best in sci-fi, fantasy, horror and comic genres on Monday, August 31 and unraveled that "Star Trek" has shot to the top of the list with 17 nominations.
Among the multiple counts it collected, this J.J. Abrams-directed sci-fi was vying for The Ultimate Scream, Best Science Fiction Movie, Best Director, Best Ensemble, Holy Sh*t! Scene of the Year and the new Fight-to-the-Death Scene of the Year category. It also grabbed nominations for four of its major cast, Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana and Eric Bana.

Scenes Cut From 'Star Trek' Detailed
June 30, 2009 03:06:58A shooting draft of the script for the already-released "Star Trek" has fallen into the lap of TNMC and with that, several scenes left out from the final version of the J.J. Abrams-directed sci-fi are revealed. Though the site mentioned that it doesn't know how many of the scenes were actually filmed or whether it will be included in the DVD, TNMC does detailed much of the deleted scenes.
[Spoiler Alert!] One of the deleted scenes deals with Spock's birth. "The thrust of the scene is Spock's mother Amanda expressing her displeasure with Sarek when he isn't present for the birth and then doesn't understand the emotional implications of this. One gets the feeling that this probably happened an awful lot in this relationship," so the site explained.

'Star Trek' Sequel Can Have Khan and William Shatner

Abrams opens doors to the possibility of villain Khan Noonien Singh and original star William Shatner appearing in next movies. When talking to MTV on Friday, May 15, the filmmaker said, "Believe me, whether it's William Shatner or Khan ... it would be ridiculous to not be open to those ideas," after pointing out that the newly-released "Star Trek" has established an alternate timeline that allows new storylines to be told.
"It'll be fun to hear what Alex and Bob are thinking about Khan," Abrams moreover said of his future meeting with screenwriters Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci to discuss the potential plots for the sequel. "The fun of this timeline is arguing that different stories, with the same characters, could be equally if not more compelling than what's been told before."

'Star Trek' Prequel Charting an Unpredictable Future for Sequel
May 13, 2009 10:05:44Writers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman apparently have mapped out on the sequel to "Star Trek", a prequel movie that has been released in U.S. theaters May 7. Embracing the fact that fans have already known what will happen to their favorite characters in the future, the writing duo revealed to MTV that they have thought of how to bring another movie to life by creating a parallel universe in the prequel.
"One of the obstacles that we found ourselves butting up against [when we took on the job] was this idea that we already knew the fate of the characters," Kurtzman explained. "If you're going to bring a whole new iteration of 'Trek' to life, you could never put them in any real danger - because you already know how they either died or lived."

While among franchise restarts its opening bow could not overshadow "Wolverine"'s $85.1 million debut, it did outdo 2005's "Batman Begins" and 2006's "Superman Returns".

Black Carpet Marks Star-Studded L.A. Premiere of 'Star Trek'

Big screen actors, small screen stars and TV personalities were all spotted walking down the black carpet that was rolled down in front of Grauman's Chinese Theater on Thursday, April 30.
Unlike its world premiere in Sydney that was attended by several of its cast members, this Los Angeles screening saw many of the film's stars. 'Star Trek' Release Pushed Forward

Of the release date shifting, Coming Soon has reported that Paramount Pictures have pushed the sci-fi movie forward to see a Thursday, May 7 release in the theaters across the U.S. rather than a Friday, May 8 opening. The movie reportedly will be debuted starting at 7 P.M.
Release date changes aside, several new images from the J.J. Abrams-directed film have been put out. Seven in all, some of fresh photos give out close-up shots of several characters, including Chris Pine's Captain James T. Kirk, Zachary Quinto's Spock and Zoe Saldana's Uhura. Two Fresh 'Star Trek' Clips Unveiled

One of the clips, "Shot of Love", comes from MTV, while the other which is entitled "Disease and Danger" is debuted via Yahoo! Movies. While each is less than one minute long, the snippets reel in more fresh footage.
The "Shot of Love" clip shares a closer look at the time Kirk flirts with Uhura in a bar. While at first Uhura looks down on the future captain of the U.S.S. Enterprise, she soon finds him interesting. This snippet may look familiar as it displays the scene that leads up to the bar fight shown in some of the TV spots.

Fresh 'Star Trek' Footage Shared Through Extended TV Spot

Reeling in several new footage and scene, this new TV spot was debuted during the broadcast of the 22nd Kids' Choice Awards on Nickelodeon. Aimed at a younger crowd, the promo video is similar to the film's first trailer, but removes the violent and explicit parts.

'Star Trek' New Uniform More Sophisticated Than the Original

In similar style of the earlier released posters of Kirk and Spock, the two fresh black and white images present U.S.S. Enterprise's communications officer Uhura and Romulan villain Nero.
While the poster of Uhura shows a sideway look into the human crew of the starship from the United States of Africa, the individual one-sheet for Nero displays a full frontal shot of the villain, exposing up-close his structural face and tattoos. Uhura is played by "Guess Who" star Zoe Saldana, whereas Nero is portrayed by "Hulk" actor Eric Bana.

Providing major spoilers to the forthcoming sci-fi movie, Empire Online jotted down the detailed story seen in each of the clips shown at the Vue West End in Leicester Square on Tuesday, November 11.

Fresh 'Star Trek' Photos Give Out Uhura and Other Enterprise Crew
October 29, 2008 11:10:32After Entertainment Weekly brought forward a slew of images from "Star Trek" few weeks back, Empire Online is now sharing a fresh series of pictures from the sci-fi film. The brand new images are taken from Empire Magazine's newest issue and they present some of the new crew from the U.S.S. Enterprise.
The first pic which is posted at the news photo shows off Spock standing on the bridge of Enterprise in front of the starship's viewscreen. The second one put below displays Captain Kirk and Hikaru Sulu in armored EVA suits in what seems to be a space shuttle. Giving further information on the particular photo, TrekMovie hints that the man on the left can be Greg Ellis's Chief Engineer Olsen. Last of all, the third image takes a closer look at Uhura.

More Fresh Photos From 'Star Trek' Hit
October 17, 2008 10:10:02Following the recent outing of six revealing pictures from the upcoming "Star Trek", a number of fresher stills have been unveiled. Unlike the previous images which are mostly intended to give out as many of the action and adventure in the movie as possible, these newer images focus generally on some of the major characters. Almost all of the new images come out in courtesy of Entertainment Weekly (EW).
In respective order, the pictures posted below provide a closer take to Captain James T. Kirk by Chris Pine, U.S.S. Enterprise's science and executive officer Spock by Zachary Quinto, Romulan villain Nero by Eric Bana, U.S.S. Enterprise's physician Dr. Leonard "Bones" McCoy by Karl Urban, and U.S.S. Enterprise's staff physicist Hikaru Sulu by John Cho.

Revealing Photos of 'Star Trek' Found
October 16, 2008 09:10:36A bunch of pictures from the much awaited "Star Trek" has been unraveled. Found in six different sites, AICN, MTV, UGO, IGN, Joblo and TrekMovie, the newly-found images bring fans closer to the characters, action and adventure of the eleventh feature film of the famed sci-fi movie.
Most of the photos focus on exposing Captain Kirk and his U.S.S. Enterprise's crew, while the rest display Nero in his ship and the U.S.S. Kelvin under siege. Uncovering the film's still where Spock portrayed by Zachary Quinto tightly grips a man's neck, the picture from AICN is posted on the news photo. For the rest, they can be seen after the jump.

November, the Month for 'Star Trek' First Trailer
October 14, 2008 09:10:21Words are, the first full length trailer of the forthcoming "Star Trek" movie can be expected to come out sometime in November. Sparking the speculation, TrekMovie claimed that this trailer will present real footage from the J.J. Abrams' film and won't be a mere teaser. It is also hoped to display the Enterprise exterior and the Enterprise bridge. In addition, the editing part of the trailer allegedly is still underway.
Though TrekMovie's source insisted that the theatrical trailer will be coming out on the particular month, it is still unclear to which movie, the trailer will be attached. Observing on the up-and-coming Paramount/DreamWorks films, the publication speculated that the promotional video may fall into the big screen with animated sequel "Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa" on November 7 or with musical drama "The Soloist" on November 21.

Part for William Shatner in 'Star Trek' Was Written

The fact was let out by director/producer J.J. Abrams when he opened up to AMC about the actual plan for the star, "It was very tricky. We actually had written a scene with him in it that was a flashback kind of thing, but the truth is, it didn't quite feel right."
Explaining about the problem the filmmakers have to face, the creator of "Alias added, "The bigger thing was that he was very vocal that he didn't want to do a cameo. We tried desperately to put him in the movie, but he was making it very clear that he wanted the movie to focus on him significantly, which, frankly, he deserves."

Expect Loads of Gadgets in 'Star Trek'

"We intentionally don't talk too much about the story," explained producer Bryan Burk, "but there's all the gadgets you could want."
Spelling out replicators from the list because they originated in "Next Generation", Burk went further uncovering the kinds of gadgets to be seen saying, "No replicators but there's warp speed and transporter beams and tricorders and communicators and everything you could want. All the gadgets." Director J.J. Abrams added, "It's one thing in 'Star Trek' to get all excited and freak out about communicators, but to them, it's like it's the new iPhone. Bits of 'Star Trek' Exposed by Spock and Scotty
August 27, 2008 04:08:07Most of "Star Trek" plot details have been well-kept so far, but with the movie in its post-production phase, hints about the story are being dropped little by little by its cast members, two in particular are Zachary Quinto and Simon Pegg. In different occasion, they talked about what they know of the upcoming film.
First is Quinto who revealed further information on his famous character, Spock. In a recent interview with CreationTV, the "Heroes" villain can be heard saying, "This story happens sort of irrespective of where the Spock we've come to know ends up." 'Star Trek' Offers a New Image on Romulans

New 'Star Trek' Character Posters Four Starfleet Officers

'Star Trek' Exposes Kirk and Three Others Through Character Posters

The four posters revealed Eric Bana as the villain Nero, Zoe Saldana as the U.S.S. Enterprise's communications officer Uhura, Zachary Quinto as the U.S.S. Enterprise's science and executive officer Spock and Chris Pine as the new Captain Kirk. All of those images can be seen below. From the One Who Has Seen 'Star Trek' First Cut

Getting a special chance to get a look into some of "Star Trek" footages which are still in the editing room, Harry indicated that from about the 7 minutes of different clips showed, the unfinished footages have presented a promising look for the film. Paramount Planning on 'Star Trek' Sequel

Little Spock of 'Star Trek' Found in Jacob Kogan

On Wednesday, February 27, TrekMovie.com reported that the third and the youngest actor to play the famous Vulcan-Human hybrid is the star of 2006 psychological thriller "Joshua" Jacob Kogan.
It was said that the 12-year-old actor will make a brief appearance in the J.J. Abrams' film. TrekMovie noted that the young co-star of Sam Rockwell can be seen at least in one scene with Winona Ryder, who plays Amanda Grayson, Spock's mother. It was further reported that Kogan has done with his filming part. Apart from that, it wasn't known whether he has other scenes with the other cast.

'Star Trek' Release Date Pushed Back to 2009

Reports claimed that the release date of the sci-fi adventure film has been pushed back from December 25 to May 8, 2009 by Paramount Pictures.
Variety reported that Paramount reasoned that the move was part of a major reshuffle in the Paramount and DreamWorks' release date schedule. The studio further claimed that the shuffling of the date was made because the film is potentially will gross higher if set for summer release. By releasing it on May 8, "Trek" has yet to have strong competitors. But, the film will be opened a week after and before the release of action fantasy "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" and drama thriller "Angels & Demons" respectively.

Star Trek Gets Winona Ryder and Rachel Nichols on Board

Recent reports confirmed that Oscar nominee Winona Ryder and "P2" star Rachel Nichols are both poised to take part in "Star Trek", which "Lost" creator J.J. Abrams is set to direct.
Ryder is claimed by Variety to play the mother of Spock, Amanda Grayson, who is also the first human wife of Sarek. Grayson, as described by StarTrek.com, was "a schoolteacher from Earth who married the Vulcan diplomat Sarek and gave birth to Spock in 2230" and "reunited with her son when she accompanied her husband aboard the Enterprise during the Babel Conference in 2267."

August 31, 2007 02:08:35Casting has already begun on male actors for the highly-anticipated "Star Trek" with the inclusions of Zachary Quinto, Leonard Nimoy, and Anton Yelchin, but how about that on the female side?
According to TrekMovie.com, attempts appear to have been made on the matter as it has learned from sources close to the production that Zoe Saldana has been offered the role of Lt. Uhura, the USS Enterprise’s communications officer. However, the site does careful to state that "the deal is not yet final", which it points out to possibly be due to the actress' schedule in James Cameron's "Avatar."

"I don't think I should play Data anymore. I think I'm too old to play him anymore to be honest, " so he said. "I think it would look stupid putting that make-up on me at this point. There certain characters that I think work in a youthful way and I think I really skated along the edge in the last couple movies as it was."
