The actress, famous for her portrayal of Bella Swan in the romantic fantasy film series, says she only realizes it now that the movie based on Stephenie Meyer's book has a 'gay inclination.'

AceShowbiz - Kristen Stewart admits "Twilight" is a "gay" movie, though it has taken her a long time to realize it. The actress, who is known globally for her portrayal of Bella Swan in the "Twilight Saga" movie series, confirms that the 2008 film feels queer, but she wasn't aware of it at first.

"I can only see it now," the openly gay actress tells Variety about the queerness of "Twilight". "I don't think it necessarily started off that way, but I also think that the fact that I was there at all, it was percolating. It's such a gay movie."

The Los Angeles-born star breaks down the reason why. "I mean, Jesus Christ, [Taylor Lautner] and [Robert Pattinson] and me, and it's so hidden and not OK," she argues. "I mean, a Mormon woman wrote this book. It's all about oppression, about wanting what's going to destroy you. That's a very Gothic, gay inclination that I love."

Kristen, who came out as bisexual in 2017 after dating her co-star Robert from 2009 until 2013, says she had no choice but to come clean about her sexuality. "It's not that I wasn't scared," she confesses. "It was just that there was no other way to live."

When asked if she understands how much her decision to come out has also made her a role model for LGBTQ people, she enthuses, "Oh, you have no idea." The 33-year-old goes on joking, "Every single woman that I've ever met in my whole life who ever kissed a girl in college is like, 'Yeah, I mean, me too.' I'm constantly joking with my girlfriend. I'll be sitting there and be like' - she whispers - 'She's gay too. Everyone's gay.' "

Now that she has fully embraced her sexuality, Kristen is ready to shook people with her performance as a boyish lesbian in upcoming film "Love Lies Bleeding". She gushes that the movie glorifies "the things that I have found attractive" and that "it was really sexy."

"And I don't mean from an outsider's perspective: I felt turned on by it, and it was cool to have people witness that," she continues. Kristen is referring to the sex scenes in the movie, teasing that one particular bathroom hookup is "going to shock people."
