AceShowbiz - "The Morning Show" and "Succession" lead the TV nominations for the 29th annual Critics Choice Awards. The Apple TV+ series earns the most nods with 6 nominations, while the HBO legal drama trails behind after receiving 5 accolades.
Starring Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon, "The Morning Show" is nominated for Best Drama Series, joining "The Crown" (Netflix), "The Diplomat" (Netflix), "The Last of Us" (HBO), "Loki" (Disney+), "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds" (Paramount+), "Succession" and "Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty" (HBO).
The two actresses, meanwhile, will compete against each other in the Best Actress in a Drama Series category alongside Aunjanue Ellis ("Justified: City Primeval"), Bella Ramsey ("The Last of Us"), Keri Russell ("The Diplomat") and Sarah Snook ("Succession"). Other "The Morning Show" cast members Billy Crudup, Nicole Beharie and Karen Pittman also earn acting nods for their supporting roles.
As for "Succession", the award-winning drama is up for the Best Drama Series title. Stars Kiera Culkin and Jeremy Strong are both nominated for Best Actor in Drama Series. Also earning a nod in an acting category is Matthew MacFadyen.
On the other hand, "Abbott Elementary" (ABC), "A Small Light" (National Geographic), "Beef" (Netflix), "Lessons in Chemistry" (Apple TV+), "Loki", "Reservation Dogs" (FX) and "The Bear" (FX) tie with four nominations each. "Abbott Elementary", "The Bear" and "Reservation Dogs" will go against each other in Best Comedy Series, while "Beef", "Lessons In Chemistry" and "A Small Light" are amongst the nominees for Best Limited Series.
The movie nominations will be announced on December 13. The 2023 Critics Choice Awards will be hosted by Chelsea Handler and broadcast live on The CW on January 14, 2024 from 7 P.M. to 10 P.M.
