MTV EMAs 2017: Shawn Mendes Dominates Winner List

The 'Treat You Better' hitmaker took home four awards, which were Biggest Fans, Best Artist, Best Canadian Act and Best Song for 'There's Nothing Holdin' Me Back'.
Shawn Mendes came out as the biggest winner of the 2017 MTV Europe Music Awards, which was held on Sunday, October 12 at SSE Arena in Wembley. The 19-year-old heartthrob took home three awards, including Best Song for his hit song "There's Nothing Holdin' Me Back". He also won Best Artist and Biggest Fans.

Other big names who made it to the winner list include Camila Cabello, Kendrick Lamar and Eminem. Camila nabbed Best Pop, while Kendrick took home Best Video for "HUMBLE." Eminem, who kicked off the show with "Walk on Water", brought home Best Hip Hop. He was surprised to know that he was named as the winner for the category. "I'm not really sure how I got this, 'cause I haven't had an album out in a few years," the Detroit rapper said during his acceptance speech. "I got one coming though."

There were also a number of British musicians who were included in the winner list. Ed Sheeran won Best Live Award, while Dua Lipa collected Best New Award. Coldplay won Best Rock at the event. They defeated other big names such as Foo Fighters, Royal Blood, The Killers and U2.

Meanwhile, Taylor Swift, who was expected to be one of the biggest winners at the event, failed to win in any of the six categories she was nominated for, which included Best Pop and Best Look. Zayn Malik was presented with Best Look Award.

Not only musicians, but the Rita Ora-hosted show also tapped big names from film and television industry as presenters. Among them were "Game of Thrones" star Natalie Dormer and "Suicide Squad" star Jared Leto, who is also the frontman of 30 Seconds to Mars. His band took home the award for Best Alternative.

French Montana, Clean Bandit, Zara Larsson, Demi Lovato and Liam Payne, on the other hand, were among the performers at the event, which was attended by London Mayor Sadiq Khan.
