'La La Land' Leads 2016 Critics' Choice Movie Awards With 12 Nominations

The drama musical starring Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone is vying for Best Picture along with 'Arrival', 'Sully', 'Moonlight' and 'Manchester by the Sea'.

AceShowbiz - "La La Land" dominates this year's nominees of Critics' Choice Movie Awards. The drama musical directed by "Whiplash" helmer Damien Chazelle collects a total of 12 nods including Best Picture, Best Actor for Ryan Gosling, Best Actress for Emma Stone, and Best Director for Chazelle.

Denis Villeneuve's "Arrival" and Barry Jenkins' "Moonlight" follows "La La Land" domination with 10 nominations apiece. They join the stiff competition to win Best Picture. Other nominees in the category are "Fences", "Hacksaw Ridge", "Hell or High Water", "Lion", "Loving", "Sully" and "Manchester by the Sea".

"Hacksaw Ridge" is additionally nominated for Best Action Movie along with "Captain America: Civil War", "Deadpool", "Doctor Strange" and "Jason Bourne". The Merc with a Mouth film adds another nod for Best Comedy while the lead star, Ryan Reynolds, is vying for Best Actor in both Action Movie and Comedy.

The winners will be announced at the 22nd annual Critics' Choice Movie Awards on December 11 ahead of the Academy Awards early next year.
