'Birdman', 'Boyhood' and 'Grand Budapest Hotel' Lead Critics' Choice Movie Awards Nominees

The Michael Keaton-starring flick leads the nominees with thirteen nods, while Richard Linklater's 12-year project and Wes Anderson's flick trail behind.

AceShowbiz - The Broadcast Film Critics Association's 20th annual Critics' Choice Awards has announced the nominees which are vying for trophies at the upcoming awards show. Among nominees announced on Monday, December 15, "Birdman" is on the lead with thirteen nods in total. The flick directed by Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu is nominated for Best Picture, Best Actor for Michael Keaton and Best Supporting Actor for Edward Norton among others.

"The Grand Budapest Hotel" trails behind "Birdman" with eleven nominations while "Boyhood" receives eight. Other films which receive multiple nods are "Interstellar" with seven and "Gone Girl" as well as "The Imitation Game" with six each.

In the Best Picture category, "Birdman" will face off other heavy contenders such as Richard Linklater's 12-year project "Boyhood", Ben Affleck-starring "Gone Girl", "The Grand Budapest Hotel", Morten Tyldum-directed WWII drama "The Imitation Game", "Nightcrawler", "Selma" and "The Theory of Everything". Angelina Jolie-directed flick "Unbroken" and "Whiplash" are also vying for the trophy.

In Best Actor category, Keaton is nominated alongside Benedict Cumberbatch who plays British mathematician and codebreaker Alan Turing in "The Imitation Game", Ralph Fiennes for his role in "The Grand Budapest Hotel" and Jake Gyllenhaal who plays a cameraman in "Nightcrawler". David Oyelowo also receives a nomination for Best Actor for his role as Martin Luther King in "Selma". Eddie Redmayne who plays Stephen Hawking in "The Theory of Everything" is also included in the category.

Jennifer Aniston ("Cake"), Marion Cotillard ("Two Days, One Night") and Felicity Jones ("The Theory of Everything") are among those who are vying for Best Actress trophy. Julianne Moore, Rosamund Pike and Reese Witherspoon are also nominated in the category for their notable performances in "Still Alice", "Gone Girl" and "Wild" respectively.

Winners from various categories will be announced live from the Hollywood Palladium on Thursday, January 15 on A&E with Michael Strahan serving as the host. The full list of the nominees is available on the official site.
