CBS is developing a single-camera comedy show based on the 2011 movie, with Hilary Winston tapped to write the script.

CBS is going to bring "Bad Teacher" to small screen. The network has given script orders to a new show based on the Cameron Diaz-starring film, teaming up with Hilary Winston who is on board as the scribe.

Winston, whose writing credits include some episodes of "Happy Endings" and "Community", will also executive produce the single-camera comedy with Gene Stupnitsky and Lee Eisenberg. Stupnitsky and Eisenberg were working on the screenplay of the 2011 hit comedy film.

Details on the upcoming TV project are yet to be available, but the R-rated movie centers on Diaz's Elizabeth, a foul-mouthed, ruthless and inappropriate teacher. When she's dumped by her fiance, she sets her plan in motion to win over a rich, handsome substitute Scott. Hilarity ensues as she competes for his affections with an overly energetic colleague Amy.

The Jake Kasdan-directed film reunited Diaz and her ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake, who portrayed Scott. Also supporting the cast ensemble were Lucy Punch, Jason Segel, Molly Shannon and Eric Stonestreet among others.

It successfully grossed $216.2 million worldwide against approximately $20 million budget.
