's weekend hospitalization was not due to alcohol abuse, a representative for the actor has confirmed. Rather, the star needed treatment for ear infection which was caused by a combination of prescription medication.

On Monday, September 21, it was reported that David's daughter Hayley Amber found him "drinking to excess" at his Los Angeles house on Sunday afternoon, September 20 and quickly phoned her mother, actress , to inform her about his condition. One of Pamela's friends then called 911 and soon thereafter an ambulance was seen transporting someone from the scene.

It was said that David was transported to an Encino, CA hospital for what was cited as alcohol poisoning. He was supposedly released from the hospital later that night.

Contrary to the story, David's representative tells E! News that the 57-year-old actor was briefly hospitalized on Sunday afternoon after complaining of dizziness due to a combination of prescription medication. He was said taking the antinausea drug Antivert and Antabuse, a medication for recovering alcoholics, the combination of which caused problems with his equilibrium.

Failing to reach his personal doctor, David then had paramedics being called to his Los Angeles house, his representative explains. He reportedly was released less than an hour after being treated. No word on his current condition though.
