A music video in support of Kelly Clarkson's single "Already Gone" has just made its debut. Directed by Joseph Kahn, it shows the winner of "American Idol" season 1 wearing a gold dress and laying on the couch. It also sees her in a black gown performing the song in the middle of invincible orchestra players.
"Already Gone" is taken from Kelly's fourth studio album "All I Ever Wanted" which has been in stores since March. This track is written by Kelly and Ryan Tedder, the OneRepublic's frontman who also makes contribution to the song's production.
Kelly actually disagreed when her label wanted "Already Gone" to be put out as the third single from her latest record. She didn't think the song is the right choice because it has "similar elements" that Ryan used in Beyonce Knowles' single "Halo".
"Ryan and I met each other at the record label, before he was working with anyone else. ... I'd never heard of a song called 'Halo'. Her [Beyonce] album came out when my album was already being printed," Kelly told CBC News. "No-one's gonna be sittin' at home, thinking 'Man, Ryan Tedder gave Beyonce and Kelly the same track to write to.' No, they're just gonna be saying I ripped someone off. I called Ryan and said, 'I don't understand. Why would you do that?'."
"In the end, they're releasing it without my consent. It sucks, but it's one of those things I have no control over. I already made my album. At this point, the record company can do whatever they want with it. It's kind of a shitty situation, but. ... You know, you learn."
In related news, Kelly Clarkson has been scheduled to sing at revived VH1 Divas concert alongside Leona Lewis, Adele and Miley Cyrus on September 17. She will also embark on a North American tour with Australian duo The Veronicas and band Parachute, starting from October 2 at Mohegan Sun Resort & Casino in Uncasville, Connecticut. this website sucks so bad was it made bye a hobo named Bob who doesn't belive in socks or something?
Wow! I had heard of the falling down the stairs thing but thought it was a joke. And the video director twittered something about how he wasn't happy with the video edits they made him make because it ruined his entire vision. Which if what you say is true, then they did indeed change the entire concept of the video. And I'm glad Kelly addressed the whole Halo issue. I think its safe to say she won't be working with Ryan Tedder again... lol.
oh man! i would SO want that staircase falling down thing! that would be so awesome! and of course, would make so much more sense to those people who are too shallow to not get the video. i get that she's dead, just a re-enforcement of the idea would be MUCH better, right?
Ohh! Thanks. Im so stupid, I didnt notice that before. Thank you :P I will now watch it again with new-found insight and interest! I love the video though...anything she does :P But it would be better if they change it a bit, yes.
After a few views I really like it. Many people on the KCE are coming up with many theories about what the video is about. The theory that I believe is right, is that Kelly is dead or dies in the video. In the very beginning the video opens up with her in a glittery top with light shinning down on her like she is an angel. In other parts of the video she is wearing a black dress and carrying a flower like she is at a funeral. Another thing that gives away that she is dead, is that when she looks into the mirror she only sees the reflection of the flower she has in her hand (she is invisible, which could explain why the musicians are invisible because they are not alive either). There has been some talking that RCA didn’t like the direction that the video was going (too dark for them), so they had the director re-edit it. I believe in the last chorus of the song that was cut off, Kelly would have been shown falling down the stairs (where we saw her shoes and necklace laying in the first part of the video) to her death. That is the only way I can understand why she is a ghost (invisible). I really hope when the video is officially released on Kelly’s official website this week it will have a new ending.
