Movie Contenders Announced for 34th People's Choice Awards

Paul Greengrass' "The Bourne Ultimatum" leads the pack with "Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End" and "Transformers" also scoring multiple nods.

AceShowbiz - An annual event with a dizzying array of categories voted on by the American public, People's Choice Awards once again lists big names and titles of Hollywood film industry to vie for its trophies in its 34th edition.

In announcement made by the organizers Thursday, November 8, 2007, Universal Pictures' "The Bourne Ultimatum" delightfully comes as the top nominee with four nods in total, most notably the Favorite Movie title. Three others are Favorite Action Movie, Favorite Threequel, and Favorite Male Action Star for Matt Damon.

Becoming the strong contenders for the Paul Greengrass-directed flick are summer blockbuster titles "Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End" and "Transformers." Both also competing in Favorite Movie slot, the former puts lead actor Johnny Depp up against Damon while the latter challenges the spy thriller for Favorite Action Movie.

Depp's "Pirates" co-star Keira Knightley, in the meantime, snatches a mention in Favorite Female Action Star alongside Jodie Foster and Jessica Alba, who is cited for Favorite Leading Lady as well. Other celebrated figures put in the list include Oscar winners Halle Berry, Jamie Foxx, Reese Witherspoon, and George Clooney, the latter being up for Favorite On Screen Match together with Brad Pitt through "Ocean's Thirteen."
