Carey's 'Mimi' Great Debut

Mariah Carey's new album "The Emancipation of Mimi" is heading for a record-high sales week and chart bow. By means of which, the album's first-day sales has raised in a great number, suggesting the album could surpass 350,000 units, easily placing it at No. 1 on the big chart. Supported with such heavy promotional attempts, including visits to "Good Morning America," "TRL," "Live With Regis and Kelly" and "Late Show With David Letterman," chart prognosticators envince that it may raise even higher.

Keitel Honored at the 24th Istanbul Film Festival

Actor Harvey Keitel was handed a lifetime achievement prize Saturday April 16, 2005, at the closing ceremony of the 24th Istanbul Film Festival. Along with him was Italian film legend, Sophia Loren, who received the achievement award at the opening of the festival.

"Sideways" co-star Sandra Oh filed for divorce from husband Alexander Payne, whom she married with in January 2003. The 44-year-old star has filed her divorce petition Friday April 15, 2005, in Los Angeles Superior Court and asked for spousal support.

Ted Nugent Speaks at the NRA's Annual Convention

Rocker Ted Nugent attended the National Rifle Association (NRA)'s annual convention Saturday April 16, 2005, urged its members to be "hardcore, radical extremists demanding the right to self defense." Further Nugent said that each NRA member should try to enroll 10 new members over the next year and associate only with other members. Sang and played a guitar painted with red and white stripes for the crowd at Houston's downtown convention center, the star told gun owners to never give up their right to bear arms and should use their guns to protect themselves if needed.

Neil Diamond to Go on Tour

Neil Diamond is scheduled to head a tour dubbed "Live World Tour 2005" that will play at least 34 cities across the United States, with the first performance at the Qwest Center in Omaha, Nebraska, on July 25, 2005. The tour, which is promoted by AEG Live, is in continuation with longtime Diamond tour directors Sal Bonafede and Jeff Apregan.

DMX Arrested in Car Crash

Rap star DMX, whose real name is Earl Simmons, was arrested for driving with a suspended license after his car crashed into a police cruiser off the Major Deegan Expressway in the Bronx. The 34 years old star crashed his car into the back of another vehicle which then hit the police cruiser.
