The midseason TV officially kicked off on January 1 with the returns of such shows as "Desperate Housewives" and "Pretty Little Liars" as well as the premieres of OWN programs. In the next few months there will be plenty of other shows either coming back for a new season or debuting its first.

"Caprica", premiering January 4, will air its final 5 episodes for it was not renewed by Syfy. It would also be the final season of HBO's "Big Love". Paula Abdul's new judging vehicle, "Live to Dance", would debut on January 4, followed within the week by the third season of "Jersey Shore", and "Merlin" which moves to Syfy.
