Hugh Jackman Tapped for Matt Damon and Ben Affleck's 'Apostle Paul'

The 'Wolverine' actor will play the lead role in a movie based on the story of a Jewish man who wrote some books of the New Testament.

AceShowbiz - Hugh Jackman is going to headline "Apostle Paul". The actor is tapped to play the title role, a Jewish man who converted to Christianity to preach the word of Jesus and was credited for writing 14 of the 27 books of the New Testament.

Deadline learns Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are producing the faith-based movie for Warner Brothers. The script is written by Matt Cook ("Triple Nine", "By Way of Helena"). No director and release date have been announced.

Hugh Jackman, 46, recently released his new movie "Chappie", a sci-fier directed by Neill Blomkamp. He will next play Blackbeard in Joe Wright's "Pan" which focused on the origin story of Peter Pan and Captain Hook. He is also set to reprise his mutant character in "The Wolverine 3" due March 3, 2017, marking his final appearance on the "X-Men" franchise.
