Rob Marshall's 'Nine' Yanked Out of November
Movie

The decision to move the release date of this star-studded musical is taken to avoid competition with 'The Road', and is not caused by production delays.

AceShowbiz - Those who can't wait to see "Nine" in theaters apparently have to wait a little bit longer. Brad Brevet of Rope of Silicon has broken the news that this drama musical has got delayed to December. So, instead of being released on November 25, it is now set for a limited bow in New York and Los Angeles on December 18, before going wide across the U.S. on December 25.

The move was made by The Weinstein Company (TWC) after the studio's other movie, "The Road", finally settled on the November 25 date. TWC insisted that it was not a result of rumored production delays. The scheduled Christmas release now placed "Nine" in competition with "Sherlock Holmes" and "It's Complicated".

Adapted from the 1982 Tony-winning Broadway musical, "Nine" revolves around world famous film director Guido Contini. Dealing with a personal and professional crisis, he struggles to prepare his latest picture, while at the same time balancing the numerous women in his life from his wife and his mistress to his movie star muse and his mother. It comes from the "Chicago" director Rob Marshall and the screenwriter duo Michael Tolkin and Anthony Minghella.

Headlined by Daniel Day-Lewis, it is supported by Marion Cotillard as Contini's wife Luisa Contini, Penelope Cruz as his sultry mistress Carla, Nicole Kidman as his film star muse Claudia Graham, Judi Dench as his confidant and costume designer Lily, Kate Hudson as young American fashion journalist Stephanie, Sophia Loren as his mother, and Stacy Ferguson aka Fergie as Saraghina.
