'The Twilight Saga's New Moon' soundtrack album will be outed in October, while its lead single Death Cab for Cutie's 'Meet Me on the Equinox' will be unveiled next month.

AceShowbiz - It has been confirmed that a song titled "Meet Me on the Equinox" from Grammy-nominated band Death Cab for Cutie will be the lead single off "The Twilight Saga's New Moon" soundtrack album. The new song will be debuted on September 13 at 2009 MTV Video Music Awards.
"We didn't expect it would be chosen for the first single - we were thinking it would be a part of the soundtrack, maybe," bassist Nick Harmer offered his comment to MTV regarding the matter. "I have no idea if ['Twilight' author] Stephenie Meyer approved it or what. It's been an exciting process, because we've been so removed from it."
Spilling the beans on what the song will be dealing with, Nick said, " ... A lot of the lyrical content [frontman] Ben [Gibbard] writes also happens to line up with what the characters are going through in the film. Basically the 'Twilight' series is about love, and that's a major theme for us. So, it wasn't difficult for us at all."
"I'm pretty sure Ben didn't try to write a song from the perspective of one of the characters from the novel. The emotional stuff is what he homed in on, because that's what we do. It's an uptempo song ... it fits right into the Death Cab canon. The lyrics are darker and brooding, the music is a little more up. I don't know if it's a rock song ... when you hear it, you'll think, 'Yep, that's a Death Cab song'."
The compilation set of the film's soundtracks, meanwhile, will be released in U.S. on October 20 via Chop Shop/Atlantic Records. Aside from Death Cab for Cutie, other musicians scoring music for the movie are yet to be disclosed. Words are, Radiohead's Thom Yorke, Kings of Leon, Lee Safar, Bon Iver, Grizzly Bear and Muse will contribute to this studio project. Also, the movie's leading man Robert Pattinson, who wrote two songs for the first installment of the film series "Twilight", may get his hands into crafting music for this flick.
An adaptation to Stephenie Meyer's second novel of her "Twilight" series, "New Moon" will follow Bella when she is left abruptly by Edward. Being unguarded from outside threat and devastated following his departure, Bella is comforted by her growing friendship with Jacob. The movie is due to arrive in theaters across United States on November 20.
