Death Cab for Cutie to Sing 'New Moon' Soundtrack at mtvU Woodie Awards
October 27, 2009 11:10:02Death Cab for Cutie are going to bring vampire theme song to 2009 mtvU Woodie Awards. During the show, the band will deliver "Meet Me on the Equinox", the lead single from "The Twilight Saga's New Moon" soundtrack album.
This is not the first time the band perform at the Woodies. In 2005, they had been invited to rock the event and share the stage with Matisyahu, Little Brother and Saul Williams.

October 08, 2009 09:10:59Death Cab for Cutie have finally debuted a music video for "Meet Me on the Equinox", one of the soundtracks for "The Twilight Saga's New Moon". Footage of the band performing inside a spooky mansion on the outskirts of Toronto is intercepted by the film's scenes, one of which shows Kristen Stewart's Bella jumping from the cliff.
"The whole idea behind the video is that this house that we're in, this crazy ski lodge of a building here, it's going to get cut together with scenes from the film," guitarist Chris Walla previously told MTV News about the scenes they filmed for the video. "Sort of like it's a place that might be in Forks, sort of a place that might be next door to Bella's house or something."

Brought out by MTV, the clip shows the band in a spooky mansion on the outskirts of Toronto, working once again with the directorial team known as Walter Robot who helped them making "Grapevine Fires" video.
"Meet Me on the Equinox" was unveiled on September 13, while its accompanying music video will be premiered this Wednesday, October 7. The song serves as the lead single off "The Twilight Saga's New Moon" soundtrack album.

Full 'The Twilight Saga's New Moon' Soundtrack List Unveiled
September 22, 2009 09:09:55Which musicians are scoring music for "The Twilight Saga's New Moon" have been unraveled with the coming out of the full tracklisting of the film's soundtrack. Posted on "Twilight" author Stephenie Meyer's website, the list includes songs from Thom Yorke, The Killers, and OK Go.
The 15-track album is comprised solely of "original and exclusive" songs with Muse who have contributed to the first film's soundtrack making a return with another track titled "I Belong to You (New Moon)". Led by Death Cab for Cutie's "Meet Me on the Equinox", the soundtrack line-up for the second "Twilight Saga" movie unfortunately doesn't include Robert Pattinson's "Blue October".

Instead being debuted at 2009 MTV Video Music Awards like it was previously planned, the lead single from "The Twilight Saga's New Moon" soundtrack album was unveiled on MTV online publication and the band's MySpace.
"The song at its core is just about meeting another halfway, because life is very short, because there's only a brief period of time to really connect with people, and that it's important to recognize that," frontman Ben Gibbard previously told MTV about how the song fits to the story of the film. "I just wanted something that kind of tonally matched the story and the scenes within the film, so they could kind of be put alongside but not be telling a narrative you're watching on the screen."

Bassist Nick Harmer told MTV, "I'm of the mind-set that the more Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner you can throw in the video, the more popular the video is going to be." Explaining further about where the band will be if the video is invaded by the movie's stars, he said, "Nobody wants to look at us, so we'll probably be standing in the shadows."

Beginning with a boy waking up at 8:36 P.M., the video sees him cycling around his town where he greets neighbors and friends who do day activity in the dark. The camera's view uses night vision except in the beginning and the end of the video where the boy is in his bedroom.

Done with the touring for "The Weight Is a Gift", Nada Surf quickly got back in the studio for next album. The project that has taken course since March 2007 is expected to be complete by January 2008.
"We tracked maybe 20 songs. I'd say a third of those still need lyrics," frontman Matthew Caws said. "It's probably there, but of the ones we're going to put on, maybe three songs still need words and the other ones need to be cooked a little."

As their spring tour date draws nearer, rock bands Franz Ferdinand and Death Cab for Cutie set to bring total satisfaction to their fans as they have decided to run the tour for over one month, starting from March 22 at the Memorial Coliseum in Portland, Oregon until April 28 at the Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver, Canada. What's more is that the agents for both groups have intended to keep ticket prices low besides to offer general admission seating whenever possible. "We didn't want to double the price even though it's double the headliners," said Trey Many, Death Cab for Cutie's agent. "I think the lowest price is about $28, but the highest is only $40. We also wanted the fans to get up close to the stage, and in most cases, we have a GA (general admission) floor." Guess that would be such a great news for all fans of both bands then.

Death Cab for Cutie Goes Under New "Directions"

Created by 12 different directors, the videos will be unveiled one by one on Death Cab for Cutie's Web site early January next year. As for fans to know, band members don't appear in the films, which were made with small budgets.
