An official confirmation has not yet been made by Michael Jackson's family on when and where he will be buried, but talks have been mounting that the late performer will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Hollywood Hills, L.A. The funeral is said to be a private affair and will be kicked of at 8 A.M. Tuesday, July 7, only hours before a massive public memorial to be held at the Staples Center.
"Preparations are already underway with security extra tight for what will be one of the most eagerly awaited funerals of all time," Radar Online reports, adding that the actual resting place for Michael will be kept secret. "There are only a select few people who know the exact spot where he will be buried and any employee got giving any information will face criminal prosecution. Obviously, all of the staff are aware of the situation but we want to respect the privacy of the family too," a source at the cemetery tells the site.
Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery is well known as the resting place to famous stars. John Ritter, David Carradine, and Bette Davis were some of the Hollywood celebs buried at the venue. Recently, the late Ed McMahon was also buried there.
In related news, Michael's ex-wife Debbie Rowe and best friend Elizabeth Taylor have both confirmed that they won't be attending the planned memorial service for the late singer. "The onslaught of media attention has made it clear her attendance would be an unnecessary distraction to an event that should focus exclusively on Michael's legacy. Debbie will continue to celebrate Michael's memory privately," Debbie's attorney has confirmed. Liz, meanwhile, tweeted, "I just don't believe that Michael would want me to share my grief with millions of others. How I feel is between us. Not a public event," when explaining on her not attending the event.
