AceShowbiz - Holly Marie Combs has penned a heartfelt tribute to her former "Charmed" co-star and longtime friend Shannen Doherty, who passed away on July 13 after a long battle with breast cancer. "My better half of 31 years," Combs began her Instagram post. "There is a hollow in my chest and I can't seem to catch my breath."
Combs described Doherty as her "fierce fighter," "ardent champion" and "best friend." She emphasized that Doherty's "undying spirit" would live on in Combs and her sons, whom the late actress had loved as her own.
"They will walk with your sense of purpose and pride," Combs wrote. "They will be truthful and stand up for what is right... Your fire will live on in them."
Other former "Charmed" co-stars also expressed their sorrow at Doherty's passing. Alyssa Milano and Rose McGowan as well as fellow actress Sarah Michelle Gellar shared heartfelt tributes on social media.
Brian Krause, who co-starred with Combs and Doherty on "Charmed", revealed in a new episode of their rewatch podcast "The House of Halliwell" that they had recorded five episodes with Doherty before her death.
"This show, this character, this podcast meant so much to Shannen," Krause said. "We want to honor her memory and fulfill her wishes by airing the first five episodes she recorded before her passing."
Despite the drama that sometimes overshadowed their on-screen partnership, Combs and Doherty remained close friends throughout the years. Combs' tribute serves as a poignant reminder of the deep bond they shared, both on and off the set of "Charmed".
