AceShowbiz - After leading the pack of nominees, Beyonce Knowles has become a big winner at the 2017 BET Awards. The wife of Jay-Z won in five categories, including Best Female R&B/Pop Artist and Album of the Year for her latest effort "Lemonade". She also nabbed Viewer's Choice Award, Video of the Year and Video Director of the Year awards for her song "Sorry".
Following behind Beyonce with three awards was Chance the Rapper. The 24-year-old rapper was named Best New Artist, beating out the likes of Khalid, Cardi B and 21 Savage. He also won Best Collaboration Award, thanks to his collaborative track with 2 Chainz, "No Problem". Additionally, he was honored with Humanitarian Award for his effort to provide better education in Chicago through his nonprofit Social Works.
Atlanta hip-hop trio Migos brought home Best Group Award, while the event's opening performer Bruno Mars nabbed Best Male R&B/Pop Artist Award. Beyonce's sister Solange Knowles won Centric Award for her single "Cranes in the Sky". Remy Ma, Lecrae, Wizkid and Stormzy won in one category each.
Besides music, BET Awards honors African-American actors and athletes. Stephen Curry (II) was named Sportsman of the Year, while Serena Williams was named Sportswoman of the Year. Taraji P. Henson nabbed Best Actress Award and Mahershala Ali walked away with Best Actor Award.
