Born on October 9, 1979 in Houston, Texas, Lecrae Moore was raised by a poor single mother who exposed him to drugs. Moving to several places throughout his upbringing, he was able to witness various cultures and backgrounds, sad to say he idolized and adapted the street life. By 16 years old he was drinking, doing drugs, stealing and fighting, but was soon transformed into a newborn Christian upon attending a Christian conference led by James White. He led a totally different life since then, a Christ-centered life. He began writing lyrics about his ups and downs and at 25, he signed to Reach Records and immediately released his debut album entitled "Real Talk".

Witnessing firsthand how the set had positively impacted people in showbiz and broader, he began working on a follow-up. Titled "After the Music Stops" (2006), the sophomore record was commercially success and surpassed his debut album by reaching no. 5 on the Billboard Gospel Album charts. It was also nominated for the Dove Awards and spawned hit single "Jesus Muzik". Two years later, Lecrae occupied Billboard charts and iTunes with his third album "Rebel" which remained on the Gospel charts for 78 weeks straight. It thus became the first Christian hip-hop album to reach No. 1 on the Billboard Gospel chart.

Opted to bring gospels to broader community, Lecrae released his fourth studio album "Rehab", which based on its title centered on release and freedoms from inhibiting addictions and habits. In addition to being nominated for Best Rock or Rap Gospel Album Grammy, the set was also nominated for a Dove Award for Rap/Hip-Hop Album of the Year. Dubbed as one of the highest selling Christian Rap/Hip Hop albums of all time, its success brought Lecrae to perform at the 2011 BET Hip Hop Awards Cypher that garnered him mainstream worldwide attention. In January the same year, a follow up album was released, titled "Rehab: The Overdose", which quickly soared to no. 1 in iTunes, on the Hip-Hop charts, and on the Christian Hip-Hop charts.

After staging the "Unashamed Tour", Lecrae released a mixtape the following year dubbed "Church Clothes" and a new project entitled "Gravity". In 2013, "Church Clothes Vol. 2" was released, followed by a seventh album "Anomaly" in the next year. Professional aside, Lecrae is the husband of Darragh Moore, with whom he has three children. He is also the co-founder and president of the non-profit organization ReachLife Ministries, which focus is to "help bridge the gap between biblical truth and the urban context." Its ministries cover evangelism, discipleship, and leadership development for urban church leaders.
